Ibanez Rebuilding

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Johann Ibanez raised to 3,500 under the gun and the player from one seat over called along with the cutoff and the big blind.

The flop fell {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}{5-Spades} and the big blind checked. Ibanez bet 6,600 and the player from one seat over called along with the cutoff. The big blind check-called as well.

The turn was the {7-Hearts} and the big blind checked. Ibanez continued with a bet of 24,000 that only the big blind called.

The {4-Clubs} filled up the board and both players opted to check. The big blind showed {q-Spades}{10-Spades} for a missed straight and flush draw Ibanez tabled {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} to rake in the pot with a pair of aces.

Obst Ousted by Kim

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
James Obst
James Obst

There was around 45,000 in the middle on a board reading {q-Clubs}{j-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. James Obst checked to Jiwoon Kim just a couple of seats over who dropped in a bet of 43,000. Obst check-raised all in for around 100,000 and Kim called.

Jiwoon Kim: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}
James Obst: {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Obst flopped two pair but it was Kim who flopped a set of fives. The river brought the {10-Spades} which changed nothing and Obst was eliminated from the Main Event.

Story Time With Snuffer

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Iverson Cotton Snuffer has been riding quite the roller coaster on this Day 2C. According to Snuffer, he started the day with 87,900 and found himself as low as 1,900 before going on a run back to 184,500 at the dinner break.

After the dinner break, he found himself in a heads up pot with {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. The flop came {j-}{9-}{8-} with one club and action checked through. The river came {4-Clubs} and his opponent fired a bet that he called. The river came {q-}, missing his flush draw but completing his queen-high straight. He ended up paying off his opponent who had {k-}{10-} for the higher straight, losing half his stack.

He had since gotten back to around the 140,000 mark when he raised to 5,000 from under the gun. The player directly to his left called, as did both James Mackey in the hijack and John Esposito in the cutoff.

The flop fell {10-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Snuffer continued for 12,000. Only Mackey hung around, taking action heads up to the turn {9-Spades}. Snuffer checked and Mackey fired a bet of 16,500, which Snuffer called.

The river came {10-Clubs}, putting three tens on the board. Snuffer checked again and Mackey checked behind, tabling {k-Spades}{j-Spades} for a flush.

Snuffer showed {6-Spades}{6-Hearts} for a rivered full house and raked in the pot with a grim smile of relief as he stacked his chips.

Esfandiari Fighting Through Sleep Deprivation and a Hangover

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Champie Douglas checked from the big blind on {7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Antonio Esfandiari bet 13,300 from the button. Douglas thought briefly and gave it up.

"Nice hand, sir," he said.

"Bout time I got one," Esfandiari said. "I'm sleep-deprived, I'm hungover. It's a good time to pick me off."
