Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Matt "jacksup" Matros opened under the gun for 12,000, Dan "Powerplay111" Matsuzuki called from the cutoff, as did Phil "Lumestackin" Hellmuth from the button.

The {6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop saw Matros continue for 24,000 and Matsuzuki raised to 114,000. Action was on Hellmuth who called off his 22,790 stack and Matros folded.

Phil "Lumestackin" Hellmuth: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Dan "Powerplay111" Matsuzuki: {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

Hellmuth was ahead with his pair of kings but the {a-Diamonds} turn completed Matsuzuki 's flush and the {7-Diamonds} river ended Hellmuth's tournament just before the money bubble.

Hellmuth Doubles Near the Bubble

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Near the money bubble, Matt "jacksup" Matros raised to 8,000 from middle position and Phil "Lumestackin" Hellmuth min-raised to 12,000 from the small blind. The player in the big folded and Matros called to see a {9-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} flop.

Hellmuth bet his last 3,395 and Matros called.

Matt "jacksup" Matros: {4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Phil "Lumestackin" Hellmuth: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

Hellmuth was ahead with top set which improved to aces full on the {k-Spades} turn. The {9-Clubs} river was of no consequence and Hellmuth doubled near the bubble.

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante
Simon Lam
Simon Lam

Simon "BagelBites" Lam opened under the gun for 9,000 and only "Bobbybaldwin" called from the small blind.

The {9-Clubs}{10-Spades}{k-Spades} flop saw "Bobbybaldwin" check-raise to 55,000 after Lam continued for 11,000 and Lam called off his 54,071 stack.

"Bobbybaldwin": {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Simon "BagelBites" Lam: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{j-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Lam flopped the goods but the {4-Spades} turn gave "Bobbybaldwin" the nut flush, leaving Lam drawing only to the nine of spades.

Lam needed some real luck to stay alive but the {7-Hearts} river ended his tournament just a few players shy of the money bubble.

Last week, PokerNews had the pleasure to follow around Phil Hellmuth for a day as he competed in the 2021 WSOP Online in quest of his record-extending 16th gold bracelet..

The "Poker Brat" showed us his home away from home at the ARIA Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and puts in an online poker session on his tablet - not just in his suite, but also in the gym.

Depaulo Makes Flush to Oust Sylvia

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Ryan "Joeyisamush" Depaulo raised to 6,000 from middle position and action folded around to Jesse "mrjessejames" Sylvia in the big blind. Sylvia raised to 19,500 and Depaulo came along.

The flop came {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{q-Hearts} and Sylvia bet 45,000. Depaulo re-raised to 81,000 and Sylvia called for his last 6,199.

Jesse "mrjessejames" Sylvia: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Ryan "Joeyisamush" Depaulo: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}

The {8-Hearts} turned a flush for Depaulo and the river {j-Hearts} didn't help Sylvia avoid elimination.

Daniels Can't Find a Third Cowboy

Shawn Daniels

A series of preflop raises saw Shawn "SayGoodnight" Daniels four-bet jam for 65,432 from the cutoff and Matt "jacksup" Matros called from the big blind.

Matt "jacksup" Matros: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Shawn "SayGoodnight" Daniels: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Daniels just picked up a double from Matros but he wouldn't be as fortunate this hand as the {7-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} runout ended his tournament.
