Gonsalves Rivers Flush to Double Through Liu

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

J.J. Liu three-bet to 125,000 from the cutoff over a pre-flop raise by Markus Gonsalves and called when Gonsalves moved all in for 543,000.

Markus Gonsalves: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}
J.J. Liu: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}

Liu stayed ahead through the turn on a board of {7-Clubs}{k-Spades}{4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, but the {2-Clubs} came on the river to give Gonsalves the nut flush. Liu banged her fist on the table when the club came and handed over the big pot to Gonsalves as players headed on break.

Heller Cracks Aces to Bust Kuether

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

An outburst of emotions saw Frederic Heller nearly jump out of his seat and Joe Kuether headed to the rail. It was a case of dominated pair for Heller, who had the far superior stack but inferior pair in {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} as Kuether was way ahead with pocket aces.

However, the reason to get excited for Heller came on the river of a {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} board to let the rich get richer.

Girish Apte made it 35,000 to go in the hijack and Timothy Lin then jammed for 170,000 on the button. Apte asked for a count as he was on the other side of the dealer chair. Once the stack size was confirmed, Apte called instantly.

Timothy Lin: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Girish Apte: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The dominated pair found no help on the {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} runout and Lin was sent to the rail next.

Gathy Wins Showdown Versus Rabinowitz

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Michael Gathy raised pre-flop and called when Darren Rabinowitz to his direct left three-bet to 100,000. The flop came {4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{k-Spades} and Rabinowitz continued for 60,000.

Gathy called to see the {4-Clubs} turn and again check-called a bet, this time for 120,000. On the {5-Hearts} river, Gathy checked for the third time. Rabinowitz studied the board for a moment before checking behind, and mucked when Gathy turned over {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a flopped pair of kings.

Jonathan Therme was all in for about 230,000 with trip aces on a board of {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{j-Spades}. Freddy Heller had {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} in front of him and needed to hit the flush on the river to score the knockout.

Sure enough, the dealer turned over the {3-Clubs} and Heller took the big pot, knocked out Therme, and took the tournament chip lead with 1,800,000.

Lucas Doubles Through Tan

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Picking up the action on the {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop, Keyi Tan bet 27,000 out of the blinds and was raised to 68,000 by Landen Lucas in an early position. Tan called and then checked the {9-Clubs} on the turn. Lucas now bet 102,000 and Tan then jammed all-in with the superior stack.

That sent Lucas in the tank and the clock was called on him. With a few seconds remaining, he made the call for the following showdown.

Landen Lucas: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Keyi Tan: {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

The {3-Spades} river was a blank and Lucas doubled for 416,000.

"Great bet, great call," another player at the table stated.
