Monnette Catches a Cold Runout

Level 19

Razz

John Monnette: {a-}{9-} / {6-}{7-}{j-}{10-} / {q-}
Cary Katz: {4-}{8-} / {q-}{10-}{q-}{2-} / {a-}

John Monnette completed with just 15,000 behind and Cary Katz, as the bring-in, then raised, Monnette called all-in.

Until fifth, Monnette had a commanding lead as Katz caught two paint cards. However, he then got more paint himself with a ten while Katz spiked a deuce on sixth. Sure enough, Katz flipped over an {a-} as the final card and Monnette's fate ended with yet another queen for a rather cold runout.

Matusow Felted by Klein

Razz

Roland Israelashvili chipped up without showdown and Mike Matusow was then all-in on third street, picking up a call by Jesse Klein.

Mike Matusow: {7-}{2-} / {4-}{5-}{q-}{8-} / {8-}
Jesse Klein: {a-}{8-} / {2-}{2-}{7-}{j-} / {3-}

The tendency switched on every street as Matusow and Klein traded the momentum. Klein then peeled the unlikely trey as the final card and Matusow was shell-shock. Some treys were already gone and he revealed the {8-} as final card to bust in 16th place.

Matusow Left On Fumes

Level 19

Omaha Hi-Lo

After defending the big blind, Mike Matusow bet the {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} turn and was called by Philip Sternheimer in an early position. They checked the {7-Hearts} and Sternheimer revealed {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}.

"I have aces and sixes and a live three," Matusow announced and revealed the {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. It was no good as Sternheimer scooped it all.

Matusow dropped to just two big bets while Roland Israelashvili had previously more than doubled.

Israelashvili left With Crumbs

Level 19

Razz

In the last hand before the two table redraw, Philip Sternheimer bet fourth and Matt Glantz then bet fifth and sixth when he had taken the lead. Roland Israelashvili was also involved in the action and folded sixth after pairing the king. Sternheimer called once more and they checked seventh. Glantz exposed what appeared to be an eighty-seven and Sternheimer mucked, Israelashvili had kept one big bet behind.

Johnson Eliminated by Glaser

Level 19
Benny Glaser
Benny Glaser

Stud Hi-Lo

Marco Johnson: {x-}{x-}/{q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}/{x-}
Phil Hellmuth: {x-}{x-}/{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}/{x-}
Benny Glaser: {x-}{x-}/{2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}/{x-}

Action was picked up as Johnson was tossing in his last remaining chips in on fourth street and was all-in for less. Hellmuth completed the bet, and Glaser called, creating a side pot.

Fifth Street saw a bet by Hellmuth and a call by Glaser.

Sixth street Hellmuth slowed down and checked. Glaser bet and Hellmuth called.

Seventh street saw Hellmuth check and fold to Glaser's bet. Glaser tabled his hole cards of {5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} and scooped the entire pot with a diamond flush after Johnson showed {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for two pair, aces and queens.

With this pot, Glaser is the first player above the two million chip mark.

Quadruple Up for Bohlman

Level 19

Razz

Scott Bohlman: {x-}{x-} / {3-}{8-}{9-}{a-} / {x-}
Jesse Klein: {x-}{x-} / {8-}{8-}{j-}{4-} / {x-}
Daniel Negreanu: {x-}{x-} / {8-}{10-}{10-}{a-} / {x-}

Jesse Klein bet fourth street and Daniel Negreanu called. Scott Bohlman then jammed for 35,000 more and was called both ways. Negreanu bet fifth and sixth with a pair of tens showing while Klein called it down with a pair of eights showing.

They checked seventh and Klein announced a low with {7-}{6-}{5-} for an eight-seven. Negreanu mucked the {q-}{9-}{2-} for a busted draw and Bohlman got there after he flipped over {j-}{5-}{2-}.

Monnette Doubles; Glaser Leads

Level 18

Seven Card Stud

Ben Yu: {7-Diamonds}{2-Spades} / {8-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{j-Spades}{9-Diamonds} / {k-Hearts}
John Monnette: {9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} / {6-Hearts}{k-Spades}{5-Spades}{9-Spades} / {x-}

John Monnette was all-in with split sixes and Ben Yu had raised with "nothing" as per the table chat but caught an open pair of jacks on fifth. Monnette regained the lead on sixth with nines and sixes but asked for a deuce, which would have given Yu superior two pair. YU bricked with a king and that secured the double.

In the meanwhile, the tides have changed once more as Daniel Negreanu chipped up a lot.

Benny Glaser then took the lead in the final hand of the level when he raised fifth against Marco Johnson.

Stud Hi-Lo

Marco Johnson: {x-}{x-} / {10-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} fold
Benny Glaser: {x-}{x-} / {8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Spades}

Johnson was left with just a few full bets while Glaser leaped into the top spot.
