Montgomery Busts Hyman

Level 11 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Kyle Montgomery
Kyle Montgomery

Kyle Montgomery raised to 5,500 and was called by Michael Perrone in the small blind. Jared Hyman then raised to 22,000 in the big blind and was called by both opponents. On the {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop, Perrone checked and Hyman did so as well for Montgomery to bet 25,000 and earn two calls.

The {3-Diamonds} turn was checked to Montgomery, who announced pot. Perrone folded while Hyman called all-in for what appeared to be nearly 100,000.

Jared Hyman: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
Kyle Montgomery: {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}

"I need a five or three," Hyman said in table chat. However, the five was dead as Montgomery would have made the superior full house. Only a trey would do and the {4-Diamonds} river was a blank to send Hyman to the rail.

Chidwick Trying to Grow His Starting Stack

Level 11 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Players who max late-regged the tournament started the day with just 24 big blinds, and one of those is Stephen Chidwick, who recently got it all-in pre-flop versus Brandon Shack-Harris.

Stephen Chidwick: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{q-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Brandon Shack-Harris: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{7-Hearts}{8-Spades}, so the players chopped the pot with their two pair, kings and sixes.

Shortly after, Chidwick limped the button and faced a pot-raise from the player in the big blind to 23,000. Chidwick called, then folded to a bet of 7,500 on the {a-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop.

Chidwick now has about half of his starting stack and will have to spin up his stack quickly.

Meanwhile also at the table, Simon Mattsson was eliminated in a hand by Chris Sandrock who made trip sixes against the Swedish star.

Hartmann Doubles Through Daniels

Level 11 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Tony Hartmann got his short stack of just 23,500 in after the {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{6-Spades} turn and was instantly called by Jake Daniels.

Tony Hartmann: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Jake Daniels: {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Daniels had the lead with his ten-high straight but the {6-Diamonds} river gave Hartmann an unlikely full house for the double.

Shack-Harris Takes from Sandrock

Level 11 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

The action was on Brandon Shack-Harris against Chris Sandrock on a {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop. Sandrock called a bet from Shack-Harris to see the turn {7-Hearts}, which both players checked. The river {4-Diamonds} brought another bet from Shack-Harris, and Sandrock gave it up.

McCormick Makes the Fold

Level 11 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Brandon Schaefer had position on Tom McCormick, and both players saw a flop of {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}. McCormick led out and was quickly called by Schaefer to see a {4-Diamonds} on the turn. McCormick tossed in another bet of 9,000, but this time Schaefer raised enough to put McCormick all in. McCormick took his time considering a call saying "I guess you liked that four more than I did" but eventually made the fold.

Matusow Off to a Good Start

Level 11 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

With plenty of chips in the middle, Dan Smith gave up and checked the {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{a-Clubs} river as he missed a draw and showed a pair of sevens for a brief moment. Mike Matusow had that beat with {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for trips sixes and boosted his stack early on Day 2.

Chip Leader's Table Gets Tougher

Level 11 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Chris Sandrock
Chris Sandrock

As mentioned in our Day 2 preview, chip leader Chris Sandrock had one of the toughest tables in the room to look forward to, with Dominykas Karmazinas, Simon Mattsson, and Brandon Shack-Harris joining him.

Well, that table just got even tougher as one of the late registrants, Stephen Chidwick just sat to his direct left.

It should be an interesting day for Sandrock at table 435.

Early Double for Zech

Level 11 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Quirin Zech scored an early double after his {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} got there with the nut flush on a board of {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. Jonathan Witz had mistakenly announced a full house first but his {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades} only made two pair to forfeit a portion of his stack.
