Dirksen Hits Two-Outer to Stay Alive

Level 31 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Dustin Dirksen
Dustin Dirksen

Dustin Dirksen was all-in and at risk for 2,700,000 against chip leader Kevin Gerhart.

Dustin Dirksen: {a-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Kevin Gerhart: {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

"Oh, we have similar hands," Dirksen said.

"I like yours better," replied Gerhart.

But attitudes changed when the flop of {7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} gave Gerhart trips and the lead, and the {10-Spades} on the turn didn't change things.

"Just a six and a six only," Dirksen said as he considered his outs.

And just like that, the river brought the {6-Hearts} and Dirksen scooped the pot to keep his tournament dreams alive.

Kaplan Doubles Through Lopez

Level 31 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Matthew Kaplan
Matthew Kaplan

The action began with Matthew Kaplan who moved all-in from the hijack and was called by Sterling Lopez from the cutoff.

The hands were tabled and it was the {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{10-Clubs} versus the {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} held by Lopez.

The dealer flopped the {k-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Kaplan was ahead with one pair of tens.

The turn card was the {j-Clubs} and no change.

The river card was the {j-Hearts} and that secured the double up for Kaplan, and he was awarded the pot.

Dirksen Pots Turn

Level 30 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante

Dustin Dirksen was in a heads-up pot against Sterling Lopez that checked through on the flop reading {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{6-Clubs}.

Lopez bet 400,000 on the {5-Spades} turn and Dirksen announced "pot" to raise it up.

"I can tell you I don't have top set, or the nut flush draw, or the nut low draw," Dirksen told his opponent.

Lopez folded and inquired, "Did you even have a pair?"

"No," replied Dirksen. "But I had outs."

Dustin Dirksen
Dustin Dirksen

Kevin Gerhart opened to 480,000 on the button and Dustin Dirksen called in the big blind.

Gerhart threw out a bet of around 800,000 on the flop of {6-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{7-Clubs} and called when Dirksen raised all-in.

Dustin Dirksen: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Kevin Gerhart: {j-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

The {9-Clubs} on the turn gave Dirksen a straight and the {3-Clubs} on the river gave him an ace-to-seven low to scoop the pot and secure a double to stay alive.
