Konnikova Eliminated

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Maria Konnikova
Maria Konnikova

Maria Konnikova went all-in from early position for 67,000 and from the cutoff Aaron Cupin went all-in for slightly more. Action folded around and the hands were on their backs.

Maria Konnikova: {a-}{3-}
Aaron Cupin: {k-}{q-}

The flop came out {k-}{10-}{7-} which had Konnikova drawing to one of three remaining aces. The turn {k-} left her drawing dead before the river {q-} filled up Cupin which gave him the pot and Konnikova was eliminated.

At another table Shannon Shorr was eliminated at the same time.

Scott Ball Over a Million in Chips

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Scott Ball
Scott Ball

Scott Ball was facing an all-in from an opponent with the board showing {7-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}.

The pot was already over 300K in chips and the shove from his opponent was a little under 300K.

Ball eventually made the call to put his opponent at risk for his tournament life.

Opponent: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Scott Ball: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}

The river was {6-Clubs} which didn't matter anymore because it would have been no help to Ball's opponent as he was drawing dead on the turn to Ball's pocket aces.

Alache with 1.2 Million in Chips

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

One of the chip leaders in day two is Oscar Alache from Chile and he was involved in a pot with the board showing {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}.

The pot was over 100K in chips and Alache bet 63,000 into his opponent who had about 400K behind. His opponent went into the tank before he mucked the hand.

Alache just scooped in the pot to add to his impressive 1.2 million in chips and is in position to make a deep run.
