Today saw the start of Event #71: $1,500 Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. The tournament drew 860 entries, generating a prize pool of $718,100. A min-cash is worth $1,512, for 129 players getting in the money, with the winner of the event taking home a prestigious WSOP gold bracelet and the $132,844 first prize.

Play began with players busting quickly as bounty hunters claimed heads from a frantic start to a frenetic finish, with the tournament clock reading just 94 players at the end of the day.

When the dust settled, it was French Mourad Amokrane that bagged the chip lead with a massive stack of 1,066,00,000, being the first player to reach the 1 million chip-mark after busting a few players in the last 20 minutes of the night. Amokrane, who travelled from Europe only a few days ago, is cashing the first WSOP event of his career in Las Vegas.

Rocha Eliminates Teliani to Burst the Bubble

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Alex Rocha
Alex Rocha

Nohad Teliani raised to 6,000 and it was called by Alex Rocha, a player in late position and Dario Sammartino in the big blind.

The flop came {10-Spades}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades} and it checked to Teliani who moved all in for her last 20,000. Only Rocah made the call and the cards were tabled:

Nohad Teliani: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Alex Rocha: {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}

Teliani had a pair of tens but Rocha had many outs for the flush and the straight. The rest of the board fell the {2-Diamonds} and the {j-Spades}, giving the flush to Rocha to bust Teliani at the bubble.

All the remaining players are now guaranteed at least $1,512 for their efforts today.

Negreanu Busts Against Zyrin's Royal Flush

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
Anatolii Zyrin
Anatolii Zyrin

On a flop {6-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}, all the chips went in the middle between Daniel Negreanu, for his last 15 big blinds, and Anatolii Zyrin, recent winner of Event #55: $400 Colossus, who had him covered.

Negreanu showed {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for two pair while Zyrin held {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for the flush draw. Negreanu stood up from his chair to record the hand, while the dealer brought the {k-Diamonds} on the turn, giving the flush to Zyrin.

"Yes, it's exactly what I needed!" said Negreanu jokingly. The {10-Diamonds} completed the board, improving Zyrin's hand into the royal flush and Negreanu made his way to the exit while Zyrin grabbed the pot.
