Following ten hours of exciting play in the Amazon room, Yuri Dzivielevski is among the chip leaders heading to Day 2 of Event #69: $2,500 Mixed Big Bet.

The partypoker ambassador made a late surge up the leaderboard to finish with 210,800 chips, which is near the top of the standings, but the top spot belongs to Australian Jarryd Godena who bagged up 235,100.

Godena leads the 92 survivors into play Monday, but there are many more big names still in the hunt with six-figure stacks including Jon Turner (163,000), Eli Elezra (133,100), Amnon Filippi (125,000), and Daniel Negreanu (107,300).

After a bit of a slow start, a final tally of 212 entries created a prize pool of $471,700, which will see the top 32 players get paid at least $4,097, with the winner receiving $117,898 and a gold WSOP bracelet.

Action throughout the day was wild, as is the nature of big bet games, with Carol Fuchs among those to take a horrific beat at some point. After she had just doubled her stack to over 100,000, she lost it back in a huge cooler to Asher Lower, who finished among the chip leaders with 197,800.

Several big names won’t be returning for day two, including Mike Matusow, who started hot, running his stack quickly up to 80,000 in the first couple of levels, but then tailed off throughout the day before being eliminated.

David “Bakes” Baker, Craig Chait, and Jeremy Harkin are just a few of the players that also will not be back for Day 2, while several other big names survived, but will be coming in on short stacks like Phil Hellmuth (13,500) and David Williams (30,200).

Action will resume Friday at 2:00 pm local time, when the remaining field will play ten more 60-minute levels, with a 60-minute dinner break after level 16.

PokerNews will have all the action Monday and Tuesday when another World Series of Poker champion is crowned at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

Fuchs Victimized By Huge PLO Cooler

MikePatrick • Level 10
Carol Fuchs
Carol Fuchs

Pot-Limit Omaha

A massive pile of chips was just pushed to Asher Lower at the expense of Carol Fuchs who lost half her stack, and another player who busted.

The players at the table reconstructed the hand, saying that on a turn board reading {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}, the player in early position bet the size of the pot, Lower then moved all-in, and Fuchs called behind, covering both players. The original bettor called.

The hands were turned up, showing a huge cooler.

Early Position Player: {9-}{5-}{x-}{x-}
Asher Lower: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Carol Fuchs: {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

The original bettor had an inferior straight to Fuchs, who also had a set of eights, but Lower had top set of aces. That set would fill up and win him the huge pot as the {7-Clubs} fell on the river, pairing the board, and shipping the massive pot to Lower.
