Katz Sends Mateos to the Rail

Level 8 : 5,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

With over 100,000 in the pot and {k-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} on the board, Adrian Mateos checked from the big blind, Matthias Eibinger checked from under the gun, and Cary Katz bet 60,000.

Mateos called and Eibinger folded. The turn was {9-Clubs}.

Katz spent two time extensions considering his options before he shoved his last 375,000 into the middle. Mateos called and was covered. Katz turned over {k-Spades}{j-Spades} for a pair of kings and Mateos showed {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the flush draw.

The river {3-Hearts} was a brick for Mateos and he was out of chips. Katz dragged the pot to move near 900,000 in Day 1 action.

Also at the table is Brian Rast, who just sat down with a fresh starting stack.

Holz Busts Petrangelo With Eight High

Level 8 : 5,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Nick Petrangelo was getting up from the table as his short stack was dusted off to Fedor Holz, who had done mist of the work to deplete Petrangelo's stack earlier.

The board read {q-}{4-}{k-}{k-}{10-}

Holz was holding the {8-}{5-} which barely out pipped the {7-}{6-} of Petrangelo, the eight playing as the fifth card over the seven.

"I think I'm gonna just go home now." said Petrangelo, a bit amused that he lost to eight high as he collected his things and debated whether or not to fire again tonight or wait until Day 2.

Little Cooks Vogelsang

Level 9 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Fedor Holz raised to 30,000 from under the gun. Christoph Vogelsang jammed all in from the button. Jonathan Little re-jammed for 915,000 from the small blind. Aleksejs Ponakovs thought for a while, using a time bank, before folding in the big blind, Holz folded quickly.

Christoph Vogelsang: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Jonathan Little: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{q-Spades} and Vogelsang was left without any chips.

Mizzi Beats Grafton with Kings

Level 9 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Sam Grafton raised to 35,000 from late position and Sorel Mizzi called from the big blind.

The flop was {k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Mizzi checked. Grafton bet 35,000 and Mizzi called.

The turn was {5-Diamonds} and both players checked to see {10-Clubs} on the river.

Mizzi bet 80,000 and Grafton raised to 300,000, sending Mizzi into the tank. After thinking it over, Mizzi tossed in chips for a call and Grafton showed {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}. Mizzi showed {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} to take the pot with a pair of kings.
