"Team Torch" Nearly Fizzles Out

Level 22 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Michael Coombs called a re-raise from button Joe McKeehen and went heads-up to the {6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} flop. Coombs checked to McKeehen, then called a bet.

Coombs called another bet on the {q-Clubs} turn, then both players checked the {10-Spades} river.

McKeehen turned over {q-Hearts}{q-Spades} for the turned set and Coombs mucked.

Left with just 50,000, Coombs raised the next hand and was called by Francisco Garzon. The flop came {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and they got the rest of his chips in the middle.

Garzon was ahead with {k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, while Coombs had {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. The {10-Hearts} turn didn't help Coombs and left him down to his last card, but he got some new hope when the {j-Hearts} fell on the river to double up.

Cao Takes Down Three-Bet Pot

Level 22 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Michael Lipner limped under the gun before Dave Tobin raised. Thanh Cao was in the big blind and put in the third bet and both Lipner and Tobin made the call.

When the dealer spread a flop of {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}, Cao continued with a bet. Only Lipner called.

The {6-Clubs} hit the turn and Cao wasted little time pushing another bet across the line. Lipner hesitated and gave his hand back to the dealer.

Garzon Can't Lose

Level 22 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Francisco Garzon is rolling through the field right now and just knocked out another player to extend his chip lead.

Garzon opened the pot with a raise, then called when Jason Duong re-raised. The flop came {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and Garzon led out.

Duong raised and Garzon called. They then got the rest of Duong's chips in the middle before the dealer could even turn over the {8-Hearts}. Garzon had {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for a pair of nines, while Duong only had ace-high with {a-Spades}{k-Spades}.

The river came the {3-Diamonds} and Duong was left collecting a payout slip while Garzon's stack grew even higher.

Kim Survives on One-Outer

Level 22 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Anthony Zinno re-raised a pre-flop raise from Dennis Kim, then called when Kim four-bet. The flop came {8-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and Kim bet, Zinno raised, Kim re-raised, and Zinno put him all in. Kim called.

Dennis Kim: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Anthony Zinno: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

Zinno had outflopped Kim with a pair of queens and stayed ahead on the {7-Diamonds} turn, but Kim hit the {j-Spades} on the river to make a set.

"Yes," Kim yelled as he jumped out of his chair. Patrick Megna said he folded ace-jack, meaning Kim had hit the last jack in the deck to stay alive in the tournament.

Timothy West raised under the gun and was called by Michael Moncek a couple of spots over, Roy Sanam in the cutoff, Wendy Freedman in the small blind and Aaron Taonus in the big blind.

On the {j-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop, the action checked to Moncek as he tossed in a bet. Both Freedman and Taonus called.

The {7-Diamonds} hit the turn, Freedman and Taonus both checked to Moncek as he fired another bet into the middle. Freedman and Taonus both got out of the way as the pot got shipped to Moncek.

Rios Smokes a Set on the Turn

Level 22 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Robert Linchesky raised in early position and Pedro Rios three-bet. Once the table folded back around to Linchesky he made the call.

The dealer fanned a flop of {q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Linchesky check-raised Rios who called.

When the {10-Diamonds} hit the turn, Linchesky fired out a bet and was quickly raised by Rios. Linchesky called.

The {2-Diamonds} completed the board and Linchesky check-called another bet from Rios. Rios tabled {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for a set of tens on the turn and Linchesky sighed as he tabled {a-Spades}{q-Spades} for top pair, top kicker. "I knew I out flopped you."

Tayi Flips Cao to the Rail

Level 22 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Venkata Tayi raised pre-flop before Thanh Cao re-raised, leaving herself just a single 5,000 chip behind. Tayi put her all in and she called.

Thanh Cao: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Venkata Tayi: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Cao picked up a straight turn on the turn as the board came {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, but she missed the {3-Spades} river and headed for the payout desk.

"I bet you were wishing for no ten," a tablemate told Tayi as he stacked up Cao's chips.
