Pike Reels One In With Kings

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Gordon Pike raised from the button and called when Christopher Benoit re-raised for the last of his chips.

Benoit had {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, but he was in big trouble against the {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} of Pike. The {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop gave Benoit a straight draw, but he improved no further as the board ran out {3-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and was eliminated just short of the money.

Steinberg Bursts the Bubble

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Alan Steinberg was all in with an extreme short stack on the flop of {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} and up against Michael Lipner, Amanda Seminoff, and Brian Kooyman.

All three players checked the {3-Clubs} turn. "Six," Steinberg pleaded as the dealer turned over the {10-Clubs} river.

"Close," a tablemate said.

Kooyman showed {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a pair of tens but Seminoff had {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for the straight.

"Somebody had to have an ace," Steinberg said before showing {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and making his exit.

The remaining 79 players are now in the money.

Sapmaz Takes it on the Flop

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Russell Watson raised in middle position before getting three-bet by Harun Sapmaz in the hijack. The table quickly folded back around to Watson who made the call.

On the {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop, Watson checked and Sapmaz tossed in a bet which was good enough to take down the pot.

Boukai Squeaks Into the Money

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Rami Boukai was down to his last 3,000 and got it in the middle against Michael Moncek.

Rami Boukai: {10-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Michael Moncek: {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

"At least you're ahead," a tablemate said as the flop came {j-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{a-Spades}. The {7-Spades} turn gave Moncek a pair while the {2-Diamonds} river didn't help Boukai, and the two-time WSOP bracelet winner became an early post-bubble elimination.

West Spikes an Ace

Level 19 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Timothy West raised in early position and Aaron Taonus three-bet in the hijack before West put in a four-bet leaving only 2,000 behind.

Both players checked down on the {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{a-Hearts} board and Taonus tabled {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} before West showed {a-Spades}{7-Spades} for aces and deuces on the river.
