Stepuchin Binks Turn

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Frank Stepuchin
Frank Stepuchin

Frank Stepuchin managed to navigate his way to heads-up play. On a flop reading {8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds} Stepuchin in the big blind led out for 16,000 into a pot of roughly 24,000. The player on the button raised to 31,000 and was called by Stepuchin.

Stepuchin quickly shoved his remaining stack into the middle on the {q-Clubs} turn and his opponent called just as quickly to put Stepuchin at risk.

Frank Stepuchin: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Button Player: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Stepuchin had found a fortunate turn to put him way out in front of his opponent, who was now drawing to just two outs. He could not find any help on the {5-Diamonds} river, however, and Stepuchin took down a massive pot to put him well in the lead.

Shortly after Stepuchin was seen bagging up having secured a spot in the second round and at least $5,835.

Moorman's Top Pair Holds to Knockout Opponent

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Action was picked up on the turn, with the board reading {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}.

The small blind moved all in, and Chris Moorman, covering his opponent, made the snap call.

Opponent: {j-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Chris Moorman: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Moorman was ahead with his pair of kings over his opponents queens, and the {3-Hearts} river did nothing to change that. Moorman scooped the pot while his opponent was sent to the rail.

Moorman is now playing heads-up against George Danzer for a spot in Day 2, and in the cash.

Tice Loses Blind on Blind Battle

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Action folded to Landon Tice in the small blind who limped. Kevin Schulz checked his option out of the big blind to send the two players to the flop.

Tice led out for 1,000 on the {9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} flop and was called by Schulz.

The {10-Spades} turn slowed Tice down, checking to Schulz who responded by firing off a bet of 1,500. Tice counted out the call before check-folding the {7-Spades} river to lose a small pot.

DeSilva Rivers Broadway to Knockout Opponent

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Upeshka DeSilva had already fired for 7,500 from the small blind before the big blind moved all in for 37,500. DeSilva, with his opponent covered, made the call relatively quickly, and they showed their hands.

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Upeshka DeSilva: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}

With DeSilva behind, the {10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{q-Clubs} paired his opponent's queen but gave DeSilva a gutshot to Broadway. The {7-Spades} turn changed nothing, but the river delivered the {k-Spades}, giving DeSilva the Broadway straight, and the pot, sending his opponent to the rail.

Platt Getting Short

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

On a board reading {j-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Diamonds} a player in the big blind checked to Jeff Platt on the button. Platt fired off a bet and was called by the big blind player.

Both players checked through the {10-Hearts} turn to the {q-Clubs} river. The player in the big blind checked for a third time and faced a bet of 4,500 from Platt, which he called fairly quickly. "Ace high" declared Platt but unfortunately for him his opponent turned over {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for the straight to collect the pot and leave Platt short stacked.

Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Martin Jacobson: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

Leonard Ascending

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

A player moved all in from under the gun and action folded to Patrick Leonard on the button who re-jammed. The blinds got out of the way and the under the gun player was officially at risk.

Under the Gun Player: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Patrick Leonard: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

"Don't call it a comeback if I win", Leonard told the table, though he was well ahead of his opponent. The board ran out {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{q-Spades}{j-Spades} to keep the eights ahead and send a large pot the online poker phenom's way.
