Ari Oxman Bags Heaps After Day 1 of Event #39: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed

The players have bagged and headed home after Day 1 of Event #39: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed. The event cumulated 719 entries, generating a prize pool of $1,919,730, though only 156 players advanced to Day 2, with Ari Oxman bagging the biggest stack with an impressive 753,000.
With $263,721 in total live earnings, Oxman will be looking to make the seventh WSOP cash of his career memorable. He is followed by Anik Ajmera, who bagged a hefty 661,500. The player from India will battle for his first WSOP cash ever and his first score on American soil.

With 162 players returning and only 108 set to make the money, some will be leaving empty-handed, while a min-cash worth $4,834. There is a decent chance the bubble will burst fast, but it is the $371,358 top prize and a prestigious gold bracelet that everyone will have their eye on.
There's never an easy path leading to the ultimate poker trophy, but this one might be particularly tough considering the stacked field. A bunch of notables and Pot-Limit Omaha experts are already in possession of large stacks in the likes of Krzysztof Magott (493,500), Benedikt Eberle (447,500), Jan-Peter Jachtmann (264,000) and Jeffrey Hakim (194,000).
The list of survivors still includes tons of familiar faces such as bracelet winners Matt Waxman (161,500), Joao Vieira (130,000), Alan Steinberg (75,000), Ayaz Mahmood (53,500) and Dash Dudley, two-time WSOP champion in Pot-Limit Omaha events, who will return in a short stack seat with 29,000.

Many notable players and bracelets winners took a shot in this event but didn’t find a bag at the end of the day, such as Ari Engel, Chino Rheem, three-time bracelet winners Chance Kornuth and Davidi Kitai, Shaun Deeb, Fabrice Soulier, Thomas Mccormick, Dragana Lim and recent winner of Event #33: $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em Nino Ullmann.
Play resumes Sunday, June 19th, at 1:00 p.m. with 10 more levels of 60 minutes scheduled with a 15-minute break every two levels. There will be a one-hour dinner break after level 16 (around 7:30 p.m.).

Barbero Hero Calls To Double Up
With 20,000 in the middle and a board of Jose Ignacio Barbero bet 15,000 from the small blind and was called by the cutoff and button.
The river saw Barbero slow down and check, which prompted the button to bomb the river for 66,000. Barbero was in the tank for a few minutes before slamming in his remaining stack of 58,500.
The cutoff folded and the button revealed , a pair of queens which were blockers to the obvious straights. Barbero fist pumped and tabled
for two pair.

Liu Loses a Big Pot
On a flop with 17,000 in the middle, Sasha Liu called her opponent's bet for 8,000.
The turn brought the and Liu's opponent bet 20,000. Liu responded with a raise to 93,000 and her opponent didn't take long to call.
The river was the and Liu's opponent announced all in, for a stack around 130,000. Liu tanked and ended up folding her hand.

Habli Finds the Double Up
Hassan Habli raised on the button to 5,000 and was called by the big blind.
The flop fanned and it checked to Habli who continued for 8,000. His opponent raised it to 30,000 and Habli tanked for a minute. "I don't want to come back tomorrow short stack" said Habli before shoving for 41,500. His opponent called for the following showdown:

The action was picked up when Chance Kornuth was all-in for his last 21,500 in the big blind and was called by Hassan Habli in the cutoff.
