BREAKING: Phil Hellmuth at 2022 WSOP $3,000 NLH Final Table, Chasing 17th Bracelet

Level 4 : 300/500, 500 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth has set out to win 24 World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets in his lifetime. On Saturday night, he has an opportunity to get one step closer to that lofty but realistic goal.

The "Poker Brat" is one of eight players remaining in Event #65: $3,000 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em at the time of publishing.

Hellmuth currently has 16 bracelets, a record by a wide margin. Johnny Chan, Doyle Brunson, and Phil Ivey are tied for second place with 10. Should he come out victorious on Saturday night, he'll make it difficult for anyone to catch up over the next decade, and possibly beyond.

The $3,000 NLH Freezeout attracted 1,359 entries and will play down to a winner tonight. That individual will not only take home a shiny gold bracelet, but also $598,173. For the Poker Hall of Famer, it would take him above the $28.5 million mark, according to Hendon Mob.

Advaney Jams and Shows the Nuts

Level 4 : 300/500, 500 ante

Four ways to the {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop, Sunita Advaney bet 7,000 and was called by three opponents including Amnon Filippi in the hijack and Anton Morgenstern on the button. The {3-Hearts} fell on the turn and Advaney now moved all-in. She forced three folds and flashed the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} with the words "I didn't want anyone to boat up".

Filippi mentioned in the table chat he folded the top two pair while Morgenstern was also on a flush draw.

Fitoussi Finds a Flush to Bust Kurtzman

Level 4 : 300/500, 500 ante

Eric Kurtzman's seat was recently found empty, and the man who sent him to the rail, Bruno Fitoussi passed along the details of the elimination.

According to Fitoussi, he and Kurtzman got the last of the money in on the river with Kurtzman's flopped two pair with {a-}{8-}{7-}{x-} on a board of {a-Spades}{7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, falling to Fitoussi's rivered nut flush, as he held {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}.

Nguyen Forces Out Slobodskoy

Level 4 : 300/500, 500 ante

With around 22,000 in the middle to the {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Diamonds} river, Thi Xoa Nguyen bet 20,000 on the button and that sent [Removed:499] in the big blind deep into the tank. Eventually, Nguyen called the clock on Slobodskoy, who nodded when the floorman arrived and asked if there was enough time to act.

The thirty seconds ran down without any decision and Slobodskoy's hand was dead while Nguyen raked in the pot with a smile on the face.

Donabedian Loses a Bunch to Reyf

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

Three ways to the {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{4-Spades} turn, Andrew Donabedian bet 15,000 in the small blind and Alexander Hoff folded during one of the last hands before the break. Alan Reyf called and Donabedian then checked the {5-Spades} on the river.

Reyf made it 35,000 to go and Donabedian reluctantly called as Reyf flashed the {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for the nut straight.

Bleznick Back From the Brink

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante
Jared Bleznick
Jared Bleznick

Jared Bleznick was seen not long ago with as little as 5,500 chips, but he's rebuilt his stack before dropping a bit in this pot.

With 10,500 in the pot on a completed board of {j-Clubs}{k-Spades}{7-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}, Cody Rich checked to Bleznick, who bet the size of the pot.

Rich made the call, and Bleznick rolled over {a-Spades}{7-Spades}, saying "you win, one pair."

Rich then showed {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for a king-high straight and the winner.

Even with the loss, Bleznick is back over starting stack after nearly being out the door.
