D'Ambrosio Confuses Corbin, But Corbin Takes the Pot

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante
Jimmy D'Ambrosio
Jimmy D'Ambrosio

There was about 17,000 on the {4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Jimmy D'Ambrosio bet 8,000. Nate Corbin called.

"You're gonna try to fight for it I see that," said D'Ambrosio.

The turn brought the {8-Spades} and D'Ambrosio started with the talk again.

"Oh I gotta check the s*** out of that," he said.

Corbin checked back.

"Oh no," said D'Ambrosio. "Don't check that."

"You didn't want me to?" said Corbin.

"No I didn't want you to," said D'Ambrosio.

The river was the {j-Clubs} and the action was D'Ambrosio.

"I'm trying to figure out how to get the rest of your chips," he said. "This is gonna be a thin value bet."

He bet 600 and the table laughed at the small sizing.

"You should pile it in," said D'Ambrosio. "Send it, send it."

"Hi mom," Scotty Smith interjected, catching a glance of the PokerNews live reporting team.

Corbin just called the 600 and D'Ambrosio showed {k-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for king-high and a busted flush draw. While Corbin tabled {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} ace-high to win the pot.

"I needed you to raise so I could pile it in," said D'Ambrosio.

He still sits among the leaders late in the night, while Smith got his shoutout to his mom back home.

Labat Gets the Better of Bar Lev Again

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

Antoine Labat raised to 1,300 from the cutoff as Roy Bar Lev came along on the button. The flop came {2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Labat check-called a bet of 2,000.

Both players checked the {k-Spades} turn before Labat led out for 5,500 on the {3-Clubs} river.

Bar Lev went into the tank for about two minutes before Ryan Depaulo called the clock. "What a weird hand," the Israeli native said as he called before the tournament floor even arrived.

Labat turned over {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} to take another pot from his table neighbor, climbing above 200,000.

Gaston Goes Deep Into Tank While Stepuchin Sings

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

Three-way action was on the flop of {6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. Frank Stepuchin bet 2,500 from the hijack, Michael Macchia raised to 8,500 from the small blind, Tyler Gaston called in early position and Stepuchin talked it out a bit before folding. After he folded, Stepuchin started to sing a bit while Gaston and Macchia battled out the rest of the hand.

The turn was the {7-Hearts}. Macchia bet 13,000, Gaston called.

The river came the {9-Clubs}. Macchia jammed all in for about 38,000 which was very close to Gaston's amount as the two had nearly identical stacks. Gaston went deep into the tank and while he was thinking, Stepuchin continued to sing some and talk to people at other tables.

"I can beat all your sets," said Gaston to Macchia.

After about four full minutes, Gaston reluctantly and slowly slid his cards forward for the fold and Macchia gathered the pot, while Stepuchin was warned by the floor for being too loud and told to tone it down a bit.

Under the gun, a player raised to 1,400 and found three callers, including Shawn Daniels in middle position and Martin Jacobson in the small blind.

The flop showed up {7-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. All four players checked the street.

On the {5-Diamonds} turn, Jacobson led out for 3,500. Everyone folded except for Daniels, who came along with a call.

The river fell the {a-Clubs}, Jacobson fired again, this time to the tune of 10,000. After thinking for about 30 seconds, Daniels made the fold and shipped the pot over to the former Main Event Champ.

Tran Lets Lewis Talk Himself into Folding

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

Action was picked up with 8,700 in the pot and a board of {7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts} on the felt.

Austin Lewis led out for 10,000 from early position. Kenny Tran, one seat to his left, put in a raise to 20,000, and Lewis called.

The {9-Spades} river paired the board for a second time. Lewis fired for 30,000. After a bit of deliberation and chip counting, Tran moved all in for 88,800. This sent Lewis into the tank, where he thought mostly out loud.

"Let me figure out what I can lose to here," he began. "Four nines?" he posited. "Spooky." Tran remained mostly silent, letting Lewis stew in his own thoughts. "Damn. You got pocket nines?" he reiterated. "This might be a bad fold if I fold this. I don't get it. I lose to like..." his voice trailed off as he threw his hands up in disbelief and confusion. "I can't think of what the fuck I lose to. Pocket nines. I lose to nine seven. I don't know. That's spooky."

Eventually, Lewis made the laydown, giving the pot to Tran. "Maybe you had a seven. I had a full house, a seven," Lewis said after the hand.

"One seven?" Tran inquired.

"One seven." Lewis responded, still in disbelief at what happened.

Fox's River Shove Forces Philachack Off a Set

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

Michael Holtz called PokerNews over to a table as a huge pot was brewing between Elio Fox and Andy Philachack. The board read {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{k-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} and Fox had shoved for his last 109,000.

Philachack went into the tank for several minutes. "Sick turn. Sick river," Philachack said as he pondered the decision. Philachack eventually flashed two queens for a flopped set as he mucked.

According to Holtz, Philachack had raised pre-flop to 1,300 and called when Fox three-bet. On the flop, Fox continued for 4,000, Philachack raised to 8,000, and Fox called.

Philachack bet 10,000 on the turn before Fox raised to 25,000. Philachack called, then checked on the river before Fox jammed.

Filatov Loses Another

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

Anatoly Filatov opened to 1,300 on the button and the player in the small blind, who for a moment seemed to consider moving all in, called.

The small blind checked on the {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop and called after Filatov continued for 1,200.

Action checked through the {q-Diamonds} turn to the {9-Spades} river where the small blind slid 3,400 into the middle. Filatov, who has struggled for much of the day, laid his hand down after just a little hesitation to send himself slipping further down the chip counts.
