Howard's Queens Get Paid

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

On the turn of {j-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, Nick Howard bet out 18,000 into the pot of a little over 30,000 and his opponent made the call.

The {5-Clubs} landed on the river and Howard fired another bet of 42,000. His opponent took about five seconds before dropping some chips across the line to make the call.

Howard showed the {q-Hearts}{q-Spades} and that was good to take down a decent-sized pot.

Ferraro Forces Out Antonius

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Action folded to Cole Ferraro in the small blind who limped in before Patrick Antonius raised to 4,500. Ferraro called to see the {q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop.

He checked over to Antonius who bet 5,000. Ferraro raised to 18,000 and Antonius called. The turn was the {k-Spades} and Ferraro bet another 25,000, with Antonius calling to the river.

On the {q-Hearts} river, Ferraro shoved forward a stack of green 25,000 chips and Antonius quickly mucked.

"Sky-High Jimmy" Still Sitting Pretty; TV Cameras Take Notice

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Jimmy D'Ambrosio
Jimmy D'Ambrosio

Jimmy D'Ambrosio has sent another two players to the rail.

He recounted to PokerNews that he knocked out Andy Philachack with queen-jack against pocket tens preflop, in a rematch of a previous encounter.

He also knocked out another tablemate who shoved for 26,000 and D'Ambrosio called with seven-six holding a big stack. He turned two pair and sent the short stack to the rail who was holding ace-king suited.

"It's the toughest big blind in town," he said. "They are all on notice they can bust at any moment."

The TV cameras were focused on him as PN left, and he holds a big stack heading into the last level of the night.

"Short-Stack Queen" Thompson Spikes Double Up on the River

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Jolyne Thompson, the self-proclaimed "short-stack queen", open-jammed her final 24,500 from middle position and was called by the cutoff. The rest of the table folded.

Jolyne Thompson: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Cutoff: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

The flop came {j-Clubs}{4-Spades}{k-Clubs}, giving the cutoff top set and Thompson would need either running clubs, running aces, or a queen for a straight.

Thompson would pick up a ton of outs when the {a-Clubs} came on the turn.

The {q-Spades} came on the river, leading to many oohs and ahhs on the table and even a half-hearted apology from Thompson.

Thompson is now back close to starting stack.

Brenes Wins Flush Over Flush

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Humberto Brenes
Humberto Brenes

On a completed board of {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{q-Spades}{5-Hearts} Humberto Brenes checked first to act in a four-way pot and the player to his left fired out a bet of 12,000. The action folded back around to Brenes and he made the call.

The player who bet out tabled {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for trip queens that rivered a queen-high flush, but that was no good as Brenes tabled {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the nut-flush as he scooped the pot.
