Small Double Up for Cornell

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

John Esposito opened to 11,000 in the cutoff and Cameron Cornell shoved on the button for his last 48,000. The blinds folded and Esposito didn't take long to call:

Cameron Cornell: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
John Esposito: {j-Spades}{9-Spades}

Cornell had good hopes a double up and found a board {j-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts} to give him a pair of queens and stay in the tournament.

Imsirovic Takes A Hit

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Picking up the action on the turn, Ali Imsirovic from under the gun was involved in a hand with a player in the big blind. With the board reading {9-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{q-Clubs} the big blind checked and Imsirovic bet 35,000 into a pot of roughly 60,000. After some thought, his opponent called to see the river.

The river was the {6-Spades} and once again the big blind checked. Imsirovic counted out a hefty 128,000 and slid it across the betting line. His opponent quickly called and Imsirovic mucked to take a hit to his still large stack.

Gnidash Bluffs the River

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Denis Gnidash
Denis Gnidash

Action picked up on the river in a heads-up pot. The board showed {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{9-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and around 200,000 was in the middle.

Denis Gnidash moved a stack of green chips forward, enough to put his opponent all in. His opponent thought for about three minutes before releasing his cards face up, showing {a-}{k-}.

Gnidash also returned the favor, showing {k-}{j-} for the pair-turned-bluff for the winner.

Josephy's Stack Takes a Hit

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Cliff Josephy and Ryan Lamanque committed their stacks after a preflop raising battle, with the latter at risk of elimination.

Ryan Lamanque: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Cliff Josephy: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Lamaque's 225,000 stack was the favourite to get a boost and one was on step closer to getting a double up on the {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop. The {q-Hearts} turn gave Jospehy outs to Broadway but the {5-Hearts} river meant that Lamanque's hand remained best.

SO SICK! Kings vs. Kings Cooler Busts Sam Abernathy from the WSOP Main Event

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Samantha Abernathy
Samantha Abernathy

Level 11 of the 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event was unkind to 888poker ambassador Sam Abernathy, who lost a brutal bad beat to exit poker's world championship event.

During the first level of Day 3, with around 110,000 in chips and the blinds at 1,000/2,500, Abernathy picked up {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} and was poised to earn a valuable double-up, perhaps putting her in position to make a run at the money, and then potentially deeper as the tournament progressed. But her opponent, Mike Gao, also had {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, so a chop pot seemed inevitable.
