Vrabel Avoids the Showers

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Luke Vrabel
Luke Vrabel

Forrest Kollar opened to 8,000 from middle position before Luke Vrabel jammed for 138,000 from the big blind. Kollar quickly called.

Luke Vrabel : {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Forrest Kollar: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

The {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop was a safe one for the pocket jacks but the {6-Hearts} turn gave Kollar an open-ended straight draw. The {a-Spades} river paired the board and Vrabel picked up another Day 3 double.

Polychronopoulos on the Rise

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Athanasios Polychronopoulos recalled a battle of the blinds in which Benjamin Hammann limped in and he checked with the {k-Spades}{5-Clubs}. The {9-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop was checked and the {k-Diamonds} fell on the turn. Hammann now bet 15,000 and Polychronopoulos called. After the {a-Spades} river, Hammann made it 52,000 to go and Polychronopoulos called to get shown the {j-Spades}{8-} for a busted draw.

The seat of Hammann is now open while Polychronopoulos only trails Lucia Navarro Martinez on the same table.

Kashihara Applies Maximum Pressure

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Yuki Kashihara opened to 8,000 from early position and was called by a player in middle position as well as the big blind.

The big blind checked on the {2-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop and Kashihara continued for 18,000. The middle position player called while the big blind folded to generate heads-up action heading to the turn.

The turn came {q-Diamonds} and Kashihara continued his aggression with a bet of 56,000. His opponent wasted little time in calling.

On the {10-Clubs} river Kashihara moved all in, covering his opponent. The middle position player went deep into the tank, standing up with his hands clasped together before moving them to his pockets. He then crossed his arms as he continued to ponder a decision for his tournament life. A sip of coffee came next in the routine before he sat back down, saying "all I can beat is aces with an ace of hearts". It was not long before the middle position player stood back up, this time holding his chips in both hands. Finally, he open folded {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} as Kashihara collected a large pot.

Kolev Catches a Break

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Yuliyan Kolev
Yuliyan Kolev

Action for this hand was picked up on the flop, but details about preflop action were provided by a player at the table not involved in the hand.

Preflop, one of Yuliyan Kolev's cards were exposed. A player from across the table thought he had seen the {3-Spades}. It had actually been the {9-Spades}, but it had been exposed enough that he was dealt a new card, and play continued.

By the time the flop had hit the table, there was 28,000 in the pot and the board read {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. The button led out for 6,000. Kolev, in early position, made the call. Kolev called a bet of 12,000 on the {a-Diamonds} turn, before both players checked on the {2-Hearts} river. Kolev showed {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, and his opponent mucked his hand, awarding the pot to Kolev.

Aces Can't Save Nakamura Against the Cowboys of Moon

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Tamon Nakamura
Tamon Nakamura

Benjamin Moon opened to 9,000 from early position before Tamon Nakamura made it 27,000 in the big blind. Moon paused for a moment before calling.

Nakamura, with around 80,000 behind, continued for 15,000 on the {10-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-} flop. Moon jammed as the big stack and Nakamura called for his tournament life.

Tamon Nakamura: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Benjamin Moon: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Nakamura looked certain for a double up as his aces remained in front on the {7-Spades} turn. However, the {k-Spades} hit the river to give Moon a full house. As the card hit the table, the players fell silent. Nakamura did a big exhale before collecting his things and leaving the tournament floor.

Yanovski Chips up With the Superior Kicker

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

With two streets of action prior, Mark Eaton and Leonid Yanovski opted to check the {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} river. Eaton tabled the {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a pair of kings but Yanovski had that beat as his {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} contained the superior kicker for the PLO specialist to move up to nearly half a million in chips.
