Gostisa Turns the Nuts to Double-Up

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Robert Correa opened to 16,000 in early position and was called by Andre Akkari on his left. Leo Zamarripa came along from the small blind but Rok Gostisa three-bet to 83,000 from the big blind. Correa folded but both Akkari and Zamarripa called.

The flop fell {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Gostisa continued with a bet of 80,000. Akkari got out of the way and Zamarripa quickly called to see the {8-Clubs} on the turn.

Zamarripa checked again and Gostisa counted out a bet of 200,000 this time. Zamarripa called and the {6-Hearts} completed the board. Zamarripa checked for the third time and Gostisa shoved all in for 296,000. Zamarripa asked for a count and then called.

Gostisa turned over {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for the nut straight and Zamarripa flashed the {10-Hearts} before his cards hit the muck.

Both players also checked the {3-Spades} turn.

On the {6-Diamonds} river, Smith bet 175,000 into the pot of about 110,000. Hannawa thought for a bit and let his cards go.

Shorr Gets a Bit Back

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Shannon Shorr started the day over 500,000 in chips but has seen his stack shrink to start the day.

In a recent pot with a bit over 100,000 in the middle on a turn board of {a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs}, Shorr put out a bet of 30,000 from the button.

His opponent in the big blind eyed Shorr's stack and gave his decision some pause before opting to muck his hand and send some chips to the always dangerous Alabama product.

Li Gets a Full Double From Shorr

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

With a completed board of {8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs} spread across the felt, Shannon Shorr and Aaron Li were left heads-up in the blinds. Shorr led out with a bet of 89,000 and Li shoved all in for 273,000.

Shorr asked for the count and thought for roughly a minute before making the call. Li flipped over {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a king-high flush while Shorr was forced to show his {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a smaller flush.

Funaro Jams River

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

With roughly 125,000 in the pot on a {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop, Frank Funaro bet 45,000 in the small blind, and his middle position opponent called.

The {10-Clubs} fell on the turn, Funaro bet 130,000, and his opponent again called.

The {q-Diamonds} completed the board on the river and Funaro moved all in. "So sick," reacted his opponent, who was covered with his stack of approximately 800,000 behind. He mulled over possibilities for a minute or two and counted his stack, but ultimately released his hand to concede to Funaro.

Tokoo's Main Event Dream Comes to an End

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Shunsuke Tokoo, from the cutoff, ripped it in for his remaining 140,000 chips. Timothy Little pondered for a while and eventually called. The blinds folded and cards were on their backs.

Shunsuke Tokoo: {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Timothy Little: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Unfortunately for Tokoo, an ace would come on the board and he'll have to settle for a min-cash of $15,000.
