Guillette Takes from Hui

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Jean Guillette opened to 30,000 from under the gun and Loni Hui flat-called as the player next to act to get the hand heads-up.

Guillette checked on the flop of {5-Spades}{8-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Hui bet 25,000. Guillette check-raised to 100,000 and Hui called. The turn brought the {4-Hearts} and Guillette moved all in for around 250,000. Hui quickly folded.

Halverson and Schindler Both Double Through Guillette

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Mitchell Halverson was down to just 100,000 chips and shoved all in from early position. Jean Guillette called in the hijack and the rest of the table folded.

Mitchell Halverson: {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Jean Guillette: {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}

Halverson managed to spike a king on the flop to take the lead and held on through the turn and river for a double up.

On the next hand, Jake Schindler and Guillette went heads-up to a flop of {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Spades}. Schindler checked to Guillette who bet 40,000 and Schindler check-raised to 140,000. Guillette called and the {6-Diamonds} landed on the turn.

Schindler shipped all in for 430,000 and Guillette took his time before making the call. Schindler turned over {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for a set of sevens and Guillette was way behind with {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. The river was the {k-Diamonds} and Guillette doubled up another player at his table.

Petrou Bounces Back to Nearly a Million

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

A player in middle position opened to 30,000 and Demetrios Petrou called from the cutoff. The button raised to 105,000 and the original raiser folded. Petrou called.

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Petrou checked over to the button, who continued for 105,000. Petrou jammed for his final 510,000, sending the button into the tank for a couple of minutes as about half of his stack was at risk.

Finally, after puffing out his cheeks, the button folded.

It wasn't too long ago since Petrou was down below 150,000 in chips but now he is just under the chip average at about 890,000.

Meanwhile, at the same table, WSOP bracelet winner Jeremy Wien is sitting comfortably with 1,600,000.

Rast Navigating His Short Stack

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Five-Time WSOP bracelet winner Brian Rast has been working with a short stack for much of the day.

A pass by his table recently saw a couple of instances of Rast at work.

First, he raised to 30,000 in early position, and after action was folded to the big blind, they moved all in, covering Rast's remaining 175,000 chips.

As a tv camera focused on Rast as he pondered his decision, he chose to fold and preserve his stack.

On the following hand, Rast jammed that last 175,000 from under the gun and received folds from the entire table to add 40,000 back into his stack.

While Rast is still alive with his sub 20 big blind stack, others who had little to work with for much of the day have fallen by the wayside including Greg Merson, Ebony Kenney, Alexandre Reard, and Romain Lewis.

Smith Four-Bets Again, Reaches One Million

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

Dan Smith opened to 30,000 from under the gun. Immediately on his left, his opponent three-bet to 75,000.

Getting a massage, Smith started to think. He asked his opponent how much he was playing, to which he received no response. He eyed up his stack, which was about 450,000 behind, and moved all in.

His opponent quickly folded and Smith took down the pot.

Blum Doubles With Eights Full; Four-Bet from Smith

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

Daniel Blum was all in for about 150,000 against an opponent who had him covered.

Daniel Blum: {8-}{8-}
Opponent: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The flop came {8-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} to give Blum a big lead with a set and the {a-Clubs} on the turn gave him a full house to have his opponent drawing dead.

"A queen to punish me!" the opponent said before the dealer peeled off the {q-Hearts} to give him a useless straight as Blum got the double.

At the next table over, Dan Smith opened in middle position before the button three-bet to 100,000. Smith responded with a four-bet to 215,000 and the opponent took about a minute before folding.

Secilmis Secures Double

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Ugur Secilmis
Ugur Secilmis

Ugur Secilmis had gotten his 235,000 chips in from the small blind and was at risk against a player in middle position.

Ugur Secilmis: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Opponent: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Secilmis got up from the table and put on his backpack as the {k-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop vaulted him in front. The {7-Hearts} turn kept him standing, and the {10-Clubs} river confirmed the result, prompting the 2021 WSOP Main Event fifth-place finisher to sit back down and continue his run.
