Weinman Busts Kirkland With Quads

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Daniel Weinman
Daniel Weinman

On a completed board of {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} with around 14,000 in the middle, the action was picked up with 24,000 in chips in front of Freddie Kirkland. He had fewer than that behind and was in the tank, as he faced the shove by Daniel Weinman for 41,200.

Eventually, Kirkland sigh-called and Weinman rolled over the {q-Hearts}{q-Spades} for quads queens to score the knockout. Kirkland briefly exposed {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the nut flush before heading out of the tournament area.

How Much Money Players at 2022 WSOP Main Event Final Table Really Made

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
2022 wsop main event
2022 wsop main event

Espen Jorstad, the new World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion, despite what the listed payouts are, actually received significantly more compared to runner-up Adrian Attenborough than you might think.

Jorstad, who brilliantly dominated the final table on Friday and Saturday, received a base payout of $10 million. After taxes, if he'd remained in his native land of Norway, he'd be taxed at 28% according to the Norwegian Taxation Act Section 5-50 (1). That comes out to $2,800,000, meaning he'd end up with $7,200,000 after taxes.

Jackson Good at Showdown

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
David Jackson
David Jackson

A middle position player opened and three players called, including Ethan Yau on the button and David Jackson in the big blind.

Jackson checked on the flop of {3-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and the initial raiser continued for 1,400. Only Jackson called. Jackson checked again on the {j-Diamonds} turn and his opponent checked back.

Jackson checked a third time on the {3-Hearts} river and his opponent checked back, leading Jackson to show {k-Clubs}{2-Clubs} to win the pot with top pair.

Crampton Busts McDowell

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

The field is starting to shrink and more than one quarter of the contestants has already been sent to the rail with half of the day completed.

Among the latest casualties was Matthew McDowell, who got a short stack in after the {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop. Ian Crampton instantly called for around 7,000 on the button and was way ahead with the {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, as he went into the showdown against {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. The {10-Hearts} turn provided some hope but the {6-Hearts} river was a blank.

Tackett More Than Doubles on "Friendly Table"

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Jonathan Tackett
Jonathan Tackett

Six ways to the {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop, Jonathan Tackett got his last 9,100 into the middle and was then isolated by Steve Foutty as all other players got out of the way.

Jonathan Tackett: {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Steve Foutty: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

The open-ended royal flush draw of Foutty bricked as the {4-Clubs} turn and {q-Clubs} river were both blanks, which Foutty remarked with an "as usual". David Moses added that this has been a friendly table in which they merely talk trash about online poker in general.

Strelitz Gets Value With Quads

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Daniel Strelitz
Daniel Strelitz

Daniel Strelitz was out of position in a heads-up pot against Gaetan Balleur on a board reading {4-Spades}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}.

Strelitz led out with a bet of 2,500 and Balleur wasted no time raising to 9,000. Strelitz responded with a three-bet to 20,000 and Balleur called.

The river brought the {2-Hearts} and Strelitz tanked for about a minute before betting 22,000. Balleur in turn went in the tank for several minutes and stared Strelitz down before making the call.

Strelitz showed {q-Spades}{7-Spades} for quad sevens and took down the massive pot.
