Marco Johnson won a pot against Paul Volpe to nearly pull even with his opponent and then raised it up for Larry Tull to call. Tull check-called on the J♣6♣2♠ flop and Q♦ turn to leave himself just 18,000 behind. On the 9♦ river, Tull moved all-in and Johnson sigh-folded after some consideration.
Mike Gorodinsky: A♥4♣ / 3♥5♠9♥A♦ / 7♥
John Hennigan: XxXx / 3♠5♥2♥J♣ / Xx
Picking up the action on fifth street, John Hennigan check-called a bet from Mike Gorodinsky and did the same when Gorodinsky moved all in for 22,000 on sixth street.
Hennigan couldn't pull ahead on seventh street and the 2022 runner-up secured a double to stay alive.
After the first drawing round, Marco Johnson checked in the cutoff and Sampo Ryynanen bet on the button. Johnson called and discarded two versus one as he then check-called another bet.
Both then discarded one each and Johnson bet to see Ryynanen instantly grin a very sour smile. The Finn vaulted out of his chair, studied the opponent and double-checked his cards before he folded with fewer than one bet behind.
"You choose the next game, that is the good news," Paul Volpe mentioned in table chat and Ryynanen picked Limit Omaha High.
Ryynanen then moved all-in for 17,000 next and Volpe called out of the big blind.
Sampo Ryynanen: Q♠J♠8♦5♦
Paul Volpe: Q♣Q♥J♣6♥
The board ran out 10♣9♦8♣K♣J♥ as Volpe turned the flush to eliminate Ryynanen in 20th place.
After the first draw, Robert Mizrachi moved all-in for the last 28,000 and John Hennigan called. Both discarded one and Hennigan exposed the 3♠ when he did so. Mizrachi then patted while Hennigan discarded one, flashing the 6♥ this time.
Mizrachi showed the 8x7x5x4x2x and Hennigan glanced over. "Wait, you have an eight? .... I cannot beat that," Hennigan said after he peeled and paired up.
Dustin Dirksen: 10x8x2x / Kx6x3x10x
Ray Henson: Qx10x5x / 8x5x6x7x
Ray Henson bet the lead and Dustin Dirksen called despite showing a king, as he joked, "ah whatever, we made it to the money", as Henson grinned back, "yeah, that was the goal".
Dirksen called it down all the way and when they flipped the cards over, both showed a ten-eight. "Did I really make it?" Dirksen inquired and Henson nodded with a tight but professional grin.
Ray Henson: 8x7x5x / 2x10xKxAx
James Obst: XxXx / 9xQx2x10x / Xx
Soon after, Henson took on James Obst who check-called on fifth and sixth. Henson bet seventh with just 8,000 behind and Obst reluctantly called. Henson showed a ten and essentially doubled.
Ben Yu raised to 12,000 before Dustin Dirksen three-bet to 24,000. Yu called. Yu check-called on fourth street and the same action took place on fifth street. Dirksen bet once more on sixth street and Yu called off for his tournament life.
Yu couldn't improve on seventh street and was eliminated on the money bubble.
Kane Kalas: 8♥6♥2♥ / A♥8♠A♣J♦
James Obst: A♦7♣2♣ / 8♣5♦7♠Q♦
Kane Kalas bet all the way with a pair of aces showing and was called down by James Obst. Kalas then rolled over aces up and Obst chopped with his eight low. The bubble continues once more and there appears to be no end in sight.
