Ivanov Scoops, Deeb Multi-Tasking

Level 17 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Stanislav Ivanov raised from the cutoff and was called by Shaun Deeb on the button and big blind Zachary Hatcher.

The flop came 2J7 and Ivanov continued with a bet. Both Deeb and Hatcher called to the 6 turn, where Ivanov bet again.

Only Hatcher called this time, and he called another bet on the Q river.

Ivanov turned over AQ3Q for a set and a low to scoop the pot.

Deeb has been running back and forth between this event and another taking place in a different section of the room.

Jimerson Riding Down, McCormick Doubles

Level 17 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Matthew Jimerson and Tomomitsu Ono were heads-up on a board of K9210 when Ono bet from the hijack.

Jimerson put in a raise in the big blind as action went back on Ono, who tanked for a moment before reraising. Jimerson quickly gave up his hand as the man known as "the elevator" dropped down to 35,000 from the 106,500 he began the day with.

The next hand at this table, Tom McCormick raised from under the gun, then called when Arne Pederson reraised.

The flop came J108 and McCormick check-called a bet. McCormick led out on the Q turn, Pederson raised, and McCormick called all in.

"Nuts," McCormick said, turning over AK for the straight. Pederson had AQAQ for a set as the A river wasn't enough for him to take out McCormick.

Level 17 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Mike Matusow bet from middle position on a flop of JJ4 and was called by Craig Fishman in early position.

The turn came the 5 and Matusow bet his last chips. Fishman called to put him at risk.

"One time," Matusow said as he turned over J510A for a full house. Fishman was on a low draw holding 82KA.

The river came the 10 and Fishman missed his low as Matusow gave a fist pump as he doubled up.

All In On the Turn, Chopped On the River

Level 17 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

On a board of 4JA, Joseph Hoffman bet out into Andrew Kerstine only to see Kerstine come back with a raise of his own.

Hoffman put in the flop three-bet before Kerstine called to see the A turn card. Hoffman bet, putting himself all in and was called by Kerstine.

Joseph Hoffman: 5442
Andrew Kerstine: A1073

The river came the 7, chopping the pot with Hoffman taking the low and Kerstine's hand good for the high.

Elsewhere in the room, Ronald Halperin has asked that we made a special mention of how dearly he misses his daughter while here at the 2023 World Series of Poker.

With how much of a family the poker community is, it's easy to forget that many of us take time away from our families to chase the poker dream in the desert for seven weeks each summer.
