Thornton Makes a Straight to Double

Three players, including Schuyler Thornton on the button and Maxx Coleman in middle position, put in 5,500 heading to the Q♦8♦9♣ flop.

A player under the gun then bet 20,000 and Coleman got out of the way. Thornton, though, moved all in for his last 18,000.

"You have it," Thornton asked his opponent before revealing his cards. He had a pair of nines and a straight draw, while his opponent held two pair.

The 7♠ turn didn't change anything, but Thornton completed his straight on the 6♥ river and doubled up.

Long took one while Wilkinson stood pat and bet. Long called and took one more, while Wilkinson again stood pat.

Wilkinson fired out another bet and Long, who made the final table of this event last year, gave it up.

Wilkinson, thanks to that pot, has now crossed 100,000 and is in contention for the largest stack in the room.

The flop came 8♦7♣4♣ and Scott bet another 8,000. Stephan called to see the 6♦ turn.

Scott now slowed down and checked, and Stephan quickly moved all in. Scott, with around 20,000 remaining, considered the decision only briefly before sliding his cards into the muck.

Yueqi Zhu raised on third street, then called when his lone opponent raised. Zhu called another bet on fourth street.

Zhu's opponent bet again on fifth and this time Zhu came back with a raise. His opponent called, then called two more bets on sixth and seventh.

Zhu turned over A♣3♣K♠ for a full house as he took the pot.

"Finally. You weren't in the pot. That's why I won," Zhu told tablemate David "ODB" Baker following the hand.

Thrope bet all four streets and Hatano called to see a downcard. Thorpe bet again and Hatano counted out his bets before he tossed in the chips to call.

Thrope turned over K♠Q♠6♥ for queens and aces, but Hatano showed 9♣8♣6♣ to take the pot with a straight.

Friedman Jams Into Queens

The 2♥7♦7♠5♠4♦ board was no help to Friedman and he was eliminated. According to tablemate John Bunch, Hu opened to 1,100 before Schuyler Thornton three-bet in the small blind to 4,000. Friedman then shoved over the top, Hu reshoved, and Thornton folded.

"He said he read him as weak," Bunch recalled Friedman saying about Thornton's three-bet.

"He's right. I didn't have aces," Thornton replied.

The river came the J♦ and Vanderpoorten led out for a bet. The big blind called and Vanderpoorten showed K♦A♥3♠10♦ for a rivered straight. His opponent flashed two aces for top set before mucking.
