John Monnette: XxXx/565
Daniel Alaei: XxXx/932 - folded fifth street
Phil Hellmuth: XxXx/QJ2 - folded fifth street

Ray Dehkharghani folded, but Hellmuth called, as did Monnette.

On fifth street, Monnette took the betting lead and placed one with his pair of fives up. Alaei folded, as did Hellmuth to send an early pot to Monnette.

Showdown Pot for Rast After Dinner

Level 16

Limit Hold'em

Brian Rast raised from under the gun and was called only by Talal Shakerchi in the big blind. On a board of K92K10, Shakerchi check-called all the way and Rast announced pocket jacks to expose the JJ.

That was enough to win the pot as Shakerchi instantly mucked.

Ace-High Good for Rotholz

Level 16

No-Limit Hold'em

Josh Arieh opened to 40,000 from the cutoff and was called by Hal Rotholz in the big blind.

Rotholz checked on a flop of Q510 and then raised to 95,000 after Arieh bet 30,000. Arieh made the call to see a turn.

The 4 turn saw Rotholz continue his aggression with a large bet of 230,000. After some thought, Arieh called.

Both players checked on the 2 river with Rotholz showing down AK, good enough to take down the pot.

Rast Chips Again Further; Becker Gains Ground

Level 16

Limit Hold'em

Brian Rast bet the K32Q turn for Matthew Ashton to call on the button and bet again the Q river, earning a call from Ashton. Rast tabled the K10 and won the next pot. He then also forced a fold from Talal Shakerchi on a king-high river to add further chips.

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

Johannes Becker raised on the button and Ashton three-bet to 125,000 out of the small blind for Becker to call. Ashton patted while Becker took one and Ashton then check-folded to a bet worth 120,000.

Alaei Check-Raises Ivey

Level 16

Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

Phil Ivey raised under the gun and got a call from Daniel Alaei in the small blind. Each player drew two, and then Alaei check-called a bet from Ivey.

On the second draw, Alaei took one card while Ivey stood pat. Alaei then checked to Ivey, who bet, but then Alaei came in with a check-raise. Ivey thought for a moment then made the call and drew one after Alaei stood pat.

Alaei then bet in the final round and got a call from Ivey. Alaei revealed his number two (7x6x4x3x2x), to take the pot and put a small dent in the chip leader's stack.

Alaei Shortens Monnette

Level 16
Daniel Alaei
Daniel Alaei

Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

Action folded to the blinds where John Monnette raised in the small and got a call from Daniel Alaei in the big.

Monnette drew two cards while Alaei needed three. After the draw, Monnette bet and got a call from Alaei.

The second draw saw Monnette take one while Alaei needed two cards. Monnette bet again, but now got raised by Alaei.

Monnette thought briefly then made the call and patted his hand. This led Alaei to break his hand and draw one.

Monnette checked and now faced a bet from Alaei, which sent him into the tank for a couple of minutes. Along the way, Monnette apologized for taking the time saying "Sorry, I have a hand I'm never, ever supposed to fold."

Eventually, he indeed made the call to see Alaei show a wheel (7x5x4x3x2x), and Monnette tossed his cards to the muck.
