Nearly 100 players will return to the Horseshoe Event Center Saturday with plenty more set to sprint out of the gate before registration closes in World Series of Poker Event # 54: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship when cards go in the air at 1 p.m. Las Vegas time.

From Day 1, 91 of the 165 entries made it through, but plenty more mixed game stars that were competing in events Friday like the Triple Draw Mix, PLO Championship, and Millionaire Maker are expected to join the fray Saturday, likely boosting the final entry total closer to 200.

As with Day 1, any new entries will start with 60,000 chips, and they’ll be chasing the chip lead of 353,000 bagged up by Steven Loube. Rounding out the top three stacks from Day 1 are Scott Bohlman (311,500) and Young Ko (298,500). Poker Hall of Famer Mori Eskandani (238,500) is also in the top ten to start the day.

Outside of the top ten are plenty more big names looking to move up the chip counts and on to Day 3 including Hall of Famers Daniel Negreanu (163,000), John Hennigan (125,000), and Todd Brunson (110,000).

This week’s $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. champion Yuri Dzivielevski (30,000) and 2021 champion Kevin Gerhart (17,500) are among those that will have to come from the back of the pack to make a charge toward the finish line.

Prize pool and payout details will be announced early in the day once registration is complete. For reference, last year fielded 209 runners, 32 players got paid, with the winner, Andrew Yeh (who remains in this year’s field with 68,000 chips), taking home $487,129. The money is expected to be reached late in the day Saturday.

When play resumes, the first of seven 90-minute levels will begin. Players get a 15-minute break at the end of every level and a 60-minute dinner break after Level 14 (approximately 7:30 p.m.).

PokerNews will be there from the start of the day right until a champion is crowned on Monday, July 26th. Keep your browsers locked here for all the action from this and every World Series of Poker event right until the final bracelet is awarded here at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

Barbero Bets Out Zolotow

Level 11 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Heads-up on a flop of A10J, Nacho Barbero bet from early position and Steve Zolotow called.

The turn came the 6 and Zolotow checked over to Barbero again, and Barbero put out another bet. Zolotow took his time before calling to the 2 river.

He checked once more and Barbero bet. Zolotow now tanked for about a minute before mucking as Barbero showed AJ as he took the pot.

Ko Scoops Madsen, Ivey Avoids Negreanu

Level 11 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Phil Ivey drew a seat directly to the left of Daniel Negreanu and got up from the table just as Young Ko and Jeff Madsen became involved in a pot.

"Anything to avoid the vlog," tablemate Andrew Barber said.

Madsen raised in early position and Ko called in the big blind. Madsen continued on the 4A5 flop and Ko called.

Both players checked the 6 turn before Ko led out on the 7 river. Madsen called and Ko turned over AK32 for a straight and a low to scoop the pot.

Slow Start For Ho

Level 11 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

After Travis Trail raised on the button, both Maria Ho in the small blind and Andres Korn in the big blind made the call.

The flop came 725 and action checked to Trail who bet. Both opponents called to see the 6 come on the turn.

Two more checks to Trail led to a bet from Trail, but this time he got a pair of folds to take the pot.

Razz

Jeremy Ausmus: XxXx/10xAx4xJx/Xx
Brian Yoon: XxXx/5x4x7xQx/Xx

Brian Yoon completed on third street and Jeremy Ausmus called.

Ausmus called another bet on fourth before Yoon bet again on fifth. Ausmus this time spent a few moments twirling his chips in his hand before throwing them in the middle.

Yoon continued betting on sixth and Ausmus quickly called to seventh, where both players checked.

"Ten," Ausmus said, turning over 6x6x2x for 10-6-4-2-A as Yoon mucked.
