Soverel Folds Trips, Allegedly

Level 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

In a hand that lasted well into the previous break, Sam Soverel had bet 70,000 into a pot of 200,000 from the cutoff. The flop read A72 and Jonas Kronwitter had checked from the big blind while Chance Kornuth had done the same from under the gun. Koronwitter called and Kornuth folded before the 9 turn was dealt.

That turn then went check-check and Kronwitter led out for 285,000 once the A river fell. Soverel used three time bank extensions while all the players around him stood up to take their break. Eventually, however, he would join them when he threw his cards into the muck, claiming to have folded AxQJx10x.

Scary Board Shuts Down Hendrix, Bleznick

Level 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Jared Bleznick and Adam Hendrix built a pot of more than 500,000 heading to the turn on a board of AJ1010. Bleznick, in the big blind, checked over to Hendrix on the button.

Hendrix bet 265,000 and Bleznick called to the 4 river. He again checked and Hendrix used a time bank before he checked behind.

"Three tens," Bleznick said, but Hendrix showed KQ76 for the flopped straight to take the big pot.

Lamb Led to the Slaughter

Level 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Ben Lamb
Ben Lamb

The action was caught once all the cards had already been dealt. Ben Lamb had gone all-in at some point and Danny Hannawa was the one that put him at risk.

Ben Lamb: QQJJ
Danny Hannawa: AA9Xx

The completed board read K4897 and Lamb had received no help to crack Hannawa's aces. He left the tournament area as his table was getting ready to break afterward.

Isaac Haxton was also at the now broken table and he was seen leaving with nearly a million chips in his rack.

Matakis Snaps Off Kenney

Level 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Ian Matakis raised to 70,000 from the hijack and was called by Bryn Kenney on the button and Freddy Deeb in the big blind.

The flop came 1038 and Matakis continued for 90,000. Kenney then shoved all in for around 180,000, Deeb folded, and Matakis snap-called.

Bryn Kenney: JJ77
Ian Matakis: KQ108

Matakis had made two pair to outflop the jacks of Kenney and improved to a full house on the 10 turn. The river came the A and Kenney was eliminated, much to the delight of tablemate Shaun Deeb who had been verbally jousting with Kenney for much of the day.

Emmerson Next to Fall

Level 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Robert Emmerson three-bet to 250,000 in the big blind and Dash Dudley called in early position. The flop came 82Q and Emmerson got his last few chips in the middle as Dudley snap-called.

Robert Emmerson: KKQ2
Dash Dudley: 10966

Dudley was on a straight draw and connected with the J turn to crack the kings of Emmerson. The river came an inconsequential A and Dudley, who finished second to Robert Cowen in this event last year, sent Emmerson to the rail.
