Polk Smacks the Flop to Take Out Kono, Compliments Him After

Polk found himself dominated, but that all changed in a big way once the dealer turned over the Q♠10♦10♥ flop. Polk made trips, while Kono was left hoping for a straight but got no help on the 5♦ turn or 4♠ river.

"Very talented end there. Very talented," Polk said. "You're a tough opponent. You fight hard," he told Kono as the two opponents shook hands at the end of the match.

Tice First to Advance to the Quarters

On a board of J♣5♥2♣8♣9♣, Chance Kornuth checked the river with around 150,000 in the pot. Landon Tice ripped all in and Kornuth was forced to lay his hand down, leaving himself with around 120,000 chips.

The next hand, Kornuth limped in on the button and Tice ripped all in from the big blind. Kornuth quickly called and the cards were on their backs.

The flop came K♦9♣5♣ and Kornuth was still in a dominating position. The 8♣ on the turn changed nothing but the 3♦ on the river gave Tice the lone pair to eliminate Kornuth. Tice advanced to the quarterfinals later today at 5:00 p.m. local time and has locked up at least a min-cash thus far.

Szabo Gets Paid on the River

The 5♣ paired the board on the turn and Khun led out with a bet of 15,000. Szabo called and the J♥ completed the board. Khun checked this time and Szabo placed a bet of 60,000. Khun called and Szabo tabled 10♠10♦ for the best hand to take a slight chip lead.
