The players are now on the first 20-minute break of Day 1b of the 2023 WSOP Main Event. Below are some highlights from the first two hours of play.
On a heads-up turn of 8♣9♠7♣8♦, Aristeidis Moschonas led out for 7,000 and was called by the player on the button.
The river came the A♠ and this time Moschonas checked to his opponent who thought for a second before firing out a bet of 14,500.
Moschonas went into the tank for a good while before he finally tossed out a calling chip and tabled A♥2♥.
"That's good," his opponent said as he mucked his cards and the pot was pushed to Moschonas.

The player under the gun raised to 600 and another player in middle position three-bet to 2,000. Action folded to Allen Kessler in the small blind and he four-bet to 5,600. The initial raiser folded, but the three-bettor called.
The flop came K♣5♠9♣ and Kessler continued for 4,000, which got a quick fold from his opponent.
"I was worried you had kings," Kessler said as he collected the chips.

After an open by the hijack, the cutoff and the button called, as well as Johan Guilbert in the big blind.
On J♦K♦6♣, everybody checked to discover the J♠ on the turn. On this second street, Guilbert took the lead by betting a single blind of 200. The hijack and the cutoff kept calling.
The river was the A♣, and Guilbert checked. Both players after him checked as well and Guilbert showed 7♦2♦ for a whiffed flush draw. The hijack had Q♠10♠ for a straight hit on the river and the pot went into his hands.

Four players saw a flop of 8♦7♠4♣ and the action checked to the button who put in a bet of 1,400. Kenny Hallaert check-called from the small blind, followed by the player on his left, and Alessio Di Cesaro in the hijack.
The 10♦ fell on the turn and the action checked to the button once again and she fired a bet of 2,300. Hallaert and the player on his left made the fold before Di Cesaro check-raised to 8,400, putting the button in the tank for about one minute before she tossed her cards into the muck.

Action was picked up with Martin Kabrhel betting 10,000 into a pot of about 6,000 on a board of 10♦8♠2♦J♣ from the hijack. The button tanked for a moment before putting in the call.
The river brought a J♠ and Kabrhel went into the tank for over two minutes before putting out a green 25k chip and announcing "Nineteen thousand six hundred."
The button thought it over for a long time before eventually laying it down.
"I never bluff. I play safe poker. I would never bluff on Day 1. Wait 'til Day 4 and bluff my stack." Martin said as he dragged the pot. "I had the nuts, Jack-ten" he remarked, but no one will ever know.
