Life Outside Poker w/ Connor Richards is a new podcast for PokerNews that focuses on poker players with successful careers and lives outside of poker.
For the third episode, Connor spoke with high-stakes poker player, politician and entrepreneur Antanas "Tony G" Guoga. In the interview, Tony G spoke about growing up in Lithuania, founding PokerNews in the early 2000s, getting into European politics later in life and his favorite televised poker moments.
He also opened up about clashing with players like Phil Hellmuth in televised games and even issued a heads-up challenge to the Poker Brat. Will Hellmuth take him on, or is he, like Tony G said, "afraid to ever play me again?"
Mitchell Hynam opened in late position to 900,000 and Kelly Kim called in the small blind. The big blind also called.
The flop fell J♠6♣6♥ and Kim checked. The big blind checked as well before Hynam bet 900,000 again. Kim raised all-in for 5,125,000. The big blind folded and Hynam called before cards were revealed.
Mitchell Hynam: A♣A♥9♣5♥
Kelly Kim: 10♦9♥7♥6♠
The turn 7♣ and river 7♠ improved Kim to a full house to beat Hynam's two pair for the double up.
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is making a move that will change the online poker game in the US with the launch of WSOP Online, a new platform that will bring players from three states together.
Poker players in Nevada and New Jersey are already competing against each other on WSOP.com, while those in Michigan have a separate single-state site. But that is changing with the trio of states being merged together on one online poker site ahead of the 2024 WSOP. Pennsylvania's WSOP site will not be part of the shared liquidity deal.
On top of the merger news, the WSOP has announced 30 online bracelet events this summer on the new WSOP Online.
In the 836th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway and Mike Holtz welcome a special fill-in cohost in Frankie Cucchiara (AKA Frankie C) of Next Gen Poker. The popular content creator took a break from filming his poker exploits, as well as time away from his wife and newborn son, to come down to Level 9 in Las Vegas and talk about the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP)!
Speaking of which, it was there where Holtz says that he experienced a marked card situation, while one of the week's hot topics was the issue of late registration in big buy-in tournaments at the WSOP. Find out what happened and how officials are addressing concerns.
You'll also hear about Frankie's new summer challenge to play 100 straight days of poker, recent bracelet winners like Robert Mizrachi, Dylan Weisman, and John Racener, and other winners from about town at venues like Wynn and Venetian.
Plus, hear about the $25,000 High Roller won by Brek Schutten for $1,405,641. It was in that event that Phil Ivey lost a three-way all in, while third-place finisher Michael Rocco gave an emotional post-elimination interview.
Oh, and don't forget about WPT World Champion Dan Sepiol, who managed to claim his first bracelet and continue his rapid ascent among poker's elite.
A new PokerNews Podcast will drop twice weekly during the 2024 WSOP every Tuesday and Friday at 8a PT / 11a ET / 4p UK time. Make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel so you do not miss an episode!
