An early position player raised to 300, a middle position player called, Mikhail Zavoloka then three-bet to 1,500 from the button, before Jeff Platt four-bet to 5,100. The early and middle position players folded and Zavoloka made the call.
The flop was J♣2♠2♣. Platt bet 2,500 and Zavoloka made the call.
Action checked through on the 4♥ turn card.
The river was the K♥, Platt bet 9,500 and Zavoloka made the call. Zavoloka tabled A♥J♥ which bested Platt's A♣Q♠. Platt asked PokerNews to report the hand as all in preflop which got a chuckle from his tablemates
Action was picked up on the turn with the board reading Q♠3♥8♣J♣. Hang Xu was in position in the hijack, sitting directly to Paul Quiring’s left.
Quiring had checked the turn and Xu bet 4,000. Quiring raised to 10,000. After some time thinking, Xu decided to call.
The river was the 6♣, bringing in the backdoor flush. Quiring checked. Xu thought for a while and then declared: “This is the worst check of my life.” He tapped the table and the players turned over their hands.
Quiring had 8♠8♥ for second flopped set, and Xu showed Q♣Q♥ for top set. Xu took down a healthy pot, but Quiring seemed to be in the better mood, not having gone broke with the set over set.
Action was picked up on the turn with a board reading K♣J♣8♦A♥, Craig Varnell bet 3,500 from the big blind and was called by his opponent in early position.
The river was the 7♦, Varnell bet 16,000, the early position player went deep into the tank before deciding on a call. Varnell tabled J♠J♦, his set of jacks was the winner.

Like many of the lower-stakes no-limit hold'em events, last year's $2,500 NLH freezeout was a long one. The large field resulted in a prize pool of $2,534,275. The exhausted winner, Valentino Konakchiev had to outlast 1,137 other players and beat Andres Korn heads up to win his bracelet and the $435,924 first-place prize.
“I’ve been dreaming about it since I’ve been watching poker when I was 15 on TV, and I can’t believe it actually happened,” Konakchiev told PokerNews in his post-win interview.
