Allis Digs Deep to Make a Call

Level 7 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Action picked up on the turn, which showed a board of Q3K10 and a pot with a little more than 30,000.

WSOP bracelet winner Mike Allis was on the button and he faced competition from a player under the gun.

The dealer fanned 5 on the river, and the player in early position led out with a 11,500 bet.

“Is that 11,500 again?” Allis asked.

The dealer confirmed the amount and Allis immediately went in the blender. He briefly stared at his opponent before studying the board.

Allis counted out chips from his stack, setting aside the 11,500 it would cost to call, and then looked at what he would have left. Allis appeared uneasy, sitting up in his chair and leaning forward once again to look at his opponent.

After almost a full minute elapsed, Allis reached down to his chips, picked up the 11,500 stack and placed them on the table for a call and tabled KJ.

What his opponent had won’t be known. The player in early position saw Allis’ hand, picked up his own cards to look, and then mucked them face down.

“Thank you,” Allis said to the dealer, as the pot was pushed his way.

Clash of Big Hands; Mugar Hits a Two-Outer on The River

Level 7 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Trent Sapach opened the action with a raise to 1,600 from under the gun. Peter Mugar was next to act and he called. After other players folded, the player in the big blind also called.

The flop was 1043 and after a check from the big blind, Sapach continued for 3200. Mugar now raised to 8,000. The big blind folded and after a moment of thinking, Sapach moved all-in. Mugar, who had the effective the stack, called.

Trent Sapach: 1010

Sapach found the dream spot spiking top set against a player aggressively pushing chips into the middle.

The turn came 5 and Sapach was in great shape, while Mugar’s tournament was not looking too great. However, the river brought the Q, giving Mugar top set; his tournament got saved, while Sapach lost about 40 percent of his stack in the hand.
