Five-in-a-Row for Craig Varnell features $50,000 Pull

Level 26 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Craig Varnell
Craig Varnell

Craig Varnell was hopeful with five mystery bounty pulls in a row up on the big screen. He was made to sweat, with the first two seeing him receive $1,000, but he was pulled up to the main stage for the third.

He opened a $50,000 envelope, and headed back to his table. But with two more bounties still to come, would he be retracing his steps?

Unfortunately for Varnell, his remaining two pulls were $1,000 — $54,000 from five pulls? Not a bad result!

Liu Binks the River to Triple Up

Level 26 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Xiaohu Liu
Xiaohu Liu

Mike Ruter opened to 200,000 from the cutoff and Xiaohu Liu shoved all in for 555,000 from the button. Sandeep Mathai then reshoved from the small blind, and Ruter made the call which put two players at risk.

Xiaohu Liu: A9 All in
Sandeep Mathai: AQ All in
Mike Ruter: KK

An all-club flop of 297 didn't change much but Liu did pick up some extra outs as he paired his nine. The 7 turn put Ruter one step closer to a double elimination but the A river meant Liu tripled up and Mathai managed to survive to end the hand with around the same as he started it with.

First Million Dollar Bounty Has Gone to Shabelnyk

Valentyn Shabelnyk
Valentyn Shabelnyk

Ukraine's Valentyn Shabelnyk rushed to the stage when it was his turn as he was in the big blind for the next hand and quickly revealed the $1,000,000 bounty without any delay. He did stick around with Jeff Platt for a quick reaction but was very eager to return to his table and he wasn't going to let anyone steal his big blind.

Shabelnyk has over $1.2 million in live tournament winnings according to The Hendon Mob and has now almost doubled that with just this bounty.

He started the day with just over half a million in chips and increased that to 1,100,000, so he might be claiming more bounties later today.
