On the A turn, Mamut checked again and Grujic sized up for a bet of 80,000. Mamut raised to 160,000 and Grujic called.

The river brought the 4 and Mamut checked. Grujic thought for a moment before firing out a large bet of 850,000. Mamut folded and Grujic reclaimed a slight chip lead.

Smith Takes the Lead

Level 41 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

John Smith and Darius Samual seem content to joust in mostly small pots, with many of them failing to grow larger than several big blinds.

Smith was recently able to win a couple of pots back-to-back to assume the chip lead.

In the first hand, Smith limped on the button and Samual checked his option in the big blind. Action then checked down on the 38J flop and 5 turn. Samual led out for 15,000 on the Q river and Smith called.

Samual tabled Q2 for a pair of queens and Smith turned over Q9 for the same pair with a superior kicker to take down the pot.

On the very next hand, Samual raised to 40,000 on the button and Smith called.

Smith check-called a 31,000 bet from Samual on the 49Q flop and then both players checked down on the 6 turn and 4 river.

Smith turned over A10 and Samual mucked — conceding the pot to Smith.

Messere Pays Off Jaka

Level 41 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Owen Messere opened to 32,000 from the button and Faraz Jaka defended his big blind to the A26 flop. Jaka check-called for 20,000 before the A turn checked through to the Q river.

Jaka led out for 125,000 and another loud sigh came out of Messere's mouth.

"Call," said the Englishman.

Jaka tabled A7 for trip aces and an exasperated Messere mucked his hand.

Samual Takes a Small Lead

Level 40 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

After going back and forth in small pots, Darius Samual took a slight edge on John Smith after consecutive pots won. First Samuel raised on the button to 30,000, and Smith called in the big blind.

The flop came 7Q4, and Samual bet out 55,000, which was enough to take the pot, as Smith quickly folded.

The very next hand Smith called from the button, and Samual raised from the big blind in the amount of 35,000. Smith called to see a flop.

The flop was 524, and Samual fired 30,000, which Smith called as well.

The turn brought the J, Samual again bet , this time 55,000. It was enough to steal the pot and take the early lead as Smith threw his cards into the muck.

Owen Messere shoved all-in on the button for 235,000 and Faraz Jaka called, looking to end the match.

Owen Messere: A3 All in
Faraz Jaka: J10

Messere didn't have much to sweat on the A45 flop. The turn and river offered a clean run out with the 6 and 6, respectively and Messere doubled up.

"This is cruel," mentioned Messere.

"What is?" asked Jaka.

"Being given hope," replied Messere.

Grujic Flops a Boat But Chops; Messere Jams 5x Pot

Level 40 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Marko Grujic
Marko Grujic

Marko Grujic opened to 25,000 and called when Nikolai Mamut made it 100,000 from the big blind.

Mamut continued for 50,000 on the K1010 flop and was called. Mamut then check-called for 175,000 on the 4 turn. Mamut checked once more and then snap-called when Grujic sized up to 475,000 on K river.

Grujic tabled K10, which flopped tens full but ended up being kings full of tens. Mamut had KxJx for the same full house and they chopped the pot.

As that hand took place, around 50,000 was in the middle on the 986KJ board in the duel between Owen Messere and Faraz Jaka.

Messere jammed for 247,000 from the big blind, which folded out Jaka after the latter used up two-time banks.
