Another Day, Another First-Hand Bustout from the Main Event

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Greg Raymer
Greg Raymer

After yesterday saw TWO players bust on the very first hand of Day 1a, you'd have thought players would have been a little bit more cautious on Day 1b of the 2004 WSOP Main Event.

However, no sooner had 2004 WSOP Main Event champion Greg Raymer uttered the immortal words "shuffle up and deal", a player hit the rail.

No quads, no full house — but someone sitting with double starting stack barely five minutes into the day. Check it out here!

Gang Zhao bet 3,500 from middle position on a board of Q9J6 and Romain Bailleul called in the hijack. Daniel Samson then raised to 15,000 in the small blind and only Bailleul called.

The river was the 2 and Samson bet 30,000. Bailleul quickly folded.

"I had ace-ten of spades. Just put another spade out there," Bailleul said.

"We're supposed to be playing small, but the pots keep getting bigger and bigger," Samson added.

Berry Forces a Fold

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Hector Berry opened to 400 from middle position and received calls from Max Broens in the small blind and Eduard Burd in the big blind.

The flop came 227 and action checked around to Berry who bet 600. Only Broens called.

Berry bet again when checked to on the 2 turn and this time it was enough to force a fold from his opponent.
