Smith Chips up

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

John Smith opened to 600 on the button and was three-bet to 2,000 by the player in the big blind. Smith called.

Both players checked on the 4AQ flop and the big blind checked again on the A turn. Smith bet 2,000 and his opponent said, "Wrong flop for my hand," as he mucked.

Smith, who doesn't play many tournaments outside of the $25k Heads-up Championship, has chipped up early and currently sits with about 64,000.

Mackey Wins a Small Pot

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Action folded around to the small blind who limped and James Mackey checked in the big blind.

The flop came 310Q and the small blind led out for 200. Mackey called.

The 8 turn and 10 river both went check-check. The small blind turned over J3 for two pair, tens and threes, while Mackey tabled 102 for a flush.

Tumboli Off to a Rough Start

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

"I preserved my stack because he just called," Zarvan Tumboli said and pointed to his table neighbour. The Indian poker pro has already lost one third of his stack and recalled a hand in which he flopped a set of tens on Kx10x3x while his direct neighbour flopped a set of kings. The overbet of Tumboli on the river was only called and he avoided losing even more chips.

Botez Chops One Up

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Picking up the action on the river, Alexandra Botez in the big blind was involved in a hand with a player in middle position as well as as player on the button.

With the board reading 4KQ4Q Botez and the middle position player checked. The button bet 8,000 into a pot of roughly 4,500. Botez thought for some time before putting in a raise to 16,000. That got a quick fold from the middle position player but the button called.

"You got quads?" the button asked as they turned over Q6 for a full house. No came the answer with Botez tabling Q7 for the same boat to chop up the pot.

Shakerchi Folds to a River Bet

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Talal Shakerchi raised from early position and only the player in the hijack made the call.

The two players saw the dealer fan the flop of 5710. Shakerchi bet 500 and his opponent called.

Shakerchi bet 2,100 on the 6 turn. Once again, his opponent called.

The 6 on the river got a check from Shakerchi. His opponent bet 2,100 and Shakerchi quickly tossed his cards into the muck.
