Josephy Makes the Right Call

With two players seeing a board of 98QQK and 2,500 in the middle, a player in the small blind bet 2,500 and was called by Cliff Josephy in the cutoff.

The small blind showed trips with AQ52 but Josephy had a flush with K1097 to take the pot.

Weisman Takes Early Pot

Dylan Weisman limped in from the small blind and called a 600 raise from a player in the big blind.

The flop came 987 and Weisman check-called a 400 continuation bet from his opponent.

Both players checked the 10 turn leading to the 6 river. Weisman fired a pot-sized bet and his opponent quickly mucked.

Action was caught after the flop of J32 and the small blind was quick to check. Daniel Negreanu fired for 500 and received a call.

The turn was the 6 and the small blind again checked to Negreanu. He continued for 1.000 and found a call from the small blind.

While the river peeled the 6 the small blind checked. Negreanu blasted for 2,000 and received a call from his opponent. He revealed 54Q2 as his opponent shared that he "had aces."

Remembering Matthew Parry Ahead of $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed

Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2024 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.

Today sees the start of Event #97: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed here at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

This three-day event gets underway at 2 p.m. local time with late registration open for eight levels (~8:45 p.m.). This event allows for two reentries. There will be 15-minute breaks every two hours. Levels 1-6 are 40 minutes in length before increasing to 60 minutes from Level 7 onwards.

The starting stack is 40,000 chips with the plan for Day 1 to play 12 levels. For the surviving players, Day 2 resumes at 1 p.m. on July 16, where another ten levels play out. A winner will be determined the following day.

Last year’s event attracted a field of 1,014 entries generating a prize pool of $2,704,710. The winner was Matthew Parry who defeated Dustin Goldklang heads-up to win $480,122 and a WSOP bracelet.

Parry, a well-liked and respected figure in the poker community, sadly passed away in June 2024. He was a Scholastic National Champ at chess, hailed from New York where he graduated from Fairport High School, and studied at the University of Buffalo. He learned to play poker with friends and online.

Parry had $1,908,422 in lifetime tournament earnings throughout his career, with this bracelet win being his biggest score. PokerNews offers condolences to the friends and family of Matthew Parry, a World Series of Poker champion.
