Dario Sammartino shoved on top of Michael Moncek's preflop raise, and got snapped off by Moncek when action folded back to him.

Sammartino was searching for a jack and a jack only, however, it wasn't to be as the final 5♣7♣3♦10♠4♦ came ten-high, offering him no chance to stay alive.
At the 2025 World Series of Poker, this year's schedule includes 100 bracelet events. One notable event returning this summer at Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas is bracelet Event #78: PokerNews Deepstack Championship (PNDC).
This also means last year's popular PokerNews Daily Deepstack Challenge is coming back, bigger and better than before!
From May 27 to June 30, players grinding the $200, $250, and $400 Daily Deepstacks tournaments at the WSOP will rack up leaderboard points. Every week, the top 10 players will be awarded a complimentary entry into the PNDC on July 1. That’s 50 seats up for grabs—10 more than last year, thanks to the additional week of action. Best of all? You can win multiple seats, meaning the more you play and perform, the better your shot at a deep WSOP run.
The 2025 World Series of Poker is underway, and poker’s biggest and most prestigious festival is back in its now-familiar home on the Las Vegas Strip.
For the fourth consecutive summer, the great and good of the poker world will descend on the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, a venue that, despite being a relatively recent change, already feels like home for the game’s biggest names and dream-chasers.
PokerNews is here to give you a guide on things like:
Having just won a sizeable pot against Yosef Fox the hand before, Frank Lagodich raised it to 120,000 from under the gun. Michael Moncek, who was next to act, took no time to think before making a huge 13x shove, for 1,630,000. Action folded all the way around to Lagodich, who empathetically flipped over his cards, letting Moncek know that he really did have it, before making the call.

Frank Lagodich: A♣A♠
Despite being a huge underdog, Moncek got about the best flop he could've asked for, in 4♦J♦5♣. Searching for a jack or a backdoor flush, he got one step closer to the latter on the 5♦ turn, and miraculously made it on the 7♦ river to crack Lagodich's pocket rockets.
Christian Roberts called an early position raise and Jordan Siegel three-bet to 900,000 with just a 5,000 chip behind from the cutoff. The intial raiser folded and Roberts re-raised. Siegel called for 5,000 more.

Christian Roberts: 9♠9♦
The board ran out J♣10♠K♦K♣J♠ to give Siegel kings full of jacks for an emphatic double.
"I'm playing the board," said Roberts.
At the next table, a pot brewed between Richard Green and Yosef Fox. Green checked the flop of 6♥8♥2♥ and Fox bet 200,000. Green check-raised and Fox three-bet all in for 2,970,000. Green snapped with a bigger stack.
Yosef Fox: 10♠10♦
Richard Green: A♥5♣
"Hold! Black. Black. Yes!" Fox cheered as the board finished out 8♦7♣ to keep his overpair ahead for a big double into the chip lead.
Action folded round to Patrick Kennedy in the cutoff, who raised to 120,000. Christian Roberts then shoved his remaining 795,000 chips into the middle. Both the blinds got out of the way before Kennedy announced "call"
Christian Roberts: A♥10♥
Patrick Kennedy A♦K♣
"Well, you've got hearts," said Kennedy, and then announced "or you've got tens!" when the 10♣4♠7♣ flop shot Roberts into the lead. The 5♥ turn and 5♣ river secured Roberts a much-needed double up.
