Straight Flush on the Bubble

Level 18 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Robert Cowen
Robert Cowen

Pot-Limit Omaha

With the tournament still on the bubble, Robert Cowen opened the button to 50,000 and only Bryce Yockey called from the big blind.

Yockey elected to check-raise on a flop of 108J from 45,000 to 200,000, and Cowen called.

Yockey continued to bet on the 9 turn, and again for 200,000. Cowen called again.

The river J slowed the action down as both players checked. However, it seemed Yockey was setting the trap when he turned over the rivered straight flush, showing down QJ109.

Cowen mucked his hand, and Yockey scooped the pot.

Money Bubble Doesn't Worry "Texas Mike"

Level 17 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Michael Moncek
Michael Moncek

No-Limit Hold'em

John Hennigan opened to 40,000 in middle position and Michael Moncek just called in the small blind. Stephen Chidwick three-bet to 180,000 from the big blind which got Hennigan to fold. Moncek, however, quickly shoved all in for 990,000 and Chidwick eventually called.

Michael Moncek: KQAll in
Stephen Chidwick: 99

The flop came J53 and Chidwick was still out front with his pair of nines. The 10 on the turn gave Moncek a straight draw and the A on the river completed it, earning him a big double up on the money bubble.

More Madness Ensues in Favour of Mitchell

Level 17 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Jared Bleznick
Jared Bleznick

Pot-Limit Omaha

Another roar of excitement/dismay erupted at Table 666, mainly in part because Jared Bleznick had just been eliminated. A board of A77 was spread across the felt with Bleznick at risk against Brandon Mitchell.

All of the chips went into the middle before the flop and Bleznick tabled AA43. Mitchell flipped over KQJ7 and the flop hit both players, although Mitchell was drawing to just one out.

The dealer wasted no time in turning over the 7 on the turn which flew Bleznick out of his seat.

"My only tournament of the summer!" Bleznick shouted in disbelief. "You gotta see this!"

The insignificant Q completed the board and Bleznick headed to the rail just prior to the money bubble, leaving Mitchell with heaps of chips.

Brandon Mitchell
Brandon Mitchell

Pot-Limit Omaha

Nacho Barbero kicked things off with a raise to 70,000 in early position. Richard Green flat-called in the cutoff and Brandon Mitchell three-bet to 220,000 out of the big blind. Both Barbero and Green called to see a flop of 743.

Mitchell checked the flop and Barbero piled all in for 525,000. Green reshoved all in for 1,385,000 and Mitchell asked for a count before making the call.

Nacho Barbero: A876All in
Richard Green: QQ85All in
Brandon Mitchell: AAJ2

"You have to have aces with clubs here," Jared Bleznick said as Mitchell rolled over his hand. "You played it perfectly, you're gonna scoop!"

The turn was the A which gave Mitchell a stranglehold on the hand. The 8 on the river did not complete any straights and Mitchell scored the double knockout to become the new chip leader.

Yockey Makes Quads to Eliminate Moncek

Bryce Yockey
Bryce Yockey

Pot-Limit Omaha
Cherish Andrews opened with a raise to 40,000. Tyler Moncek called, and so did Robert Cowen from the button, before Bryce Yockey reraised to 206,000 from the big blind. Andrews folded, but Moncek agreed and moved his chips into the middle. Cowen got out of the way, but Yockey made the call.

Tyler Moncek: AAJ4 All in
Bryce Yockey: KK88

The K92 flop gave Yockey a set, and the K turn gave him quads, leaving Moncek drawing dead. The inconsequential 9 came on the river, and Moncek hit the rail.

Wasserson Coolers Gonzalez

Level 15 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

We picked up the action on the flop with 60,000 in the middle as Fabrizio Gonzalez bet 40,000 from the big blind on K53. In the hijack, Eric Wasserson raised to 180,000. Youness Barakat folded from the cutoff after using a few time banks, and action was back on Gonzalez. He decided to go all-in for 150,000 more and was beaten into the middle by Wasserson.

Fabrizio Gonzalez: 7733 All in
Eric Wasserson: KK65

On the 410 runout, it was curtains for Gonzalez as he was sent to the rail.

Koon Has Arrived

Level 14 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

The first hand Jason Koon played after getting to the table started with him in the cutoff raising to 35,000. Richard Green called from the button, and Jared Bleznick called from the big blind.

The action was checked around on the Q107 flop.

Bleznick bet 55,000 on the 10 turn. Koon called while Green folded.

When the A fell on the river, Bleznick bet 115,000. Koon raised to 480,000 and Bleznick entered the tank. After using four time extensions, and tanking into the break, Bleznick elected to fold his hand.

After the fact, Koon told Bleznick that he made the right decision, informing him that he held AxAxQx.

Pot-Limit Omaha

Seth Davies raised to 35,000 from under the gun and was called by Ognyan Dimov on his left and Phil Ivey in the big blind. The flop fell J32 and Ivey shipped all in for his last 50,000. Davies reshoved all in for 179,000 and Dimov called to put both players at risk.

Phil Ivey: QJ65All in
Seth Davies: K874All in
