Huck Seed

Every summer, a legend that the poker world hasn't seen in quite some time pops up at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). This year, that individual is Huck Seed, the 1996 world champion.

PokerNews caught up with the Poker Hall of Famer to find out why he's back in the game after nearly a decade away, and to see if he thinks he can hang with the new-school pros. Seed, prior to the interview, ran into and shared a wholesome embrace with his old pal and fellow poker legend Gus Hansen inside the Horseshoe Events Center. The two hadn't seen each other in a while.

The Rich Get Richer

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Ricardo Martinez
Ricardo Martinez

Ricardo Martinez was in the cutoff, sitting with the big stack at the table, and raised to 30,000, and Darren Taylor was in the big blind and made the call. The flop was 964, and Taylor checked and Martinez placed the continuation bet in position for 30,000. Martinez made the call.

The turn Q brought another check from Taylor and another bet from Martinez of 65,000.

Both players checked the 9 on the river, and Martinez was almost ready to muck until Taylor showed KJ for king high and Martinez rolled over A9 for ace high and the scoop of the pot.

Gunchev Sends Stiner to the Rail

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Ryan Stiner opened under the gun all-in, and got called after long hesitation by Nikola Gunchev in the big blind.

Nikola Gunchev AA

As the dealer ran out the board: Q69107, Stiner already stood up to get ready to hit the rail. The table told Stiner to wait, but he mentioned that his 430,000 chips were less than Gunchev his stack. Unfortunately for Stiner the Kings didn't hold up and the stack of Gunchev was bigger indeed.
