Anish Vithlani raised to 1,500,000 from the cutoff, and James Morris announced a call but then tried to shove his whole stack in. The table corrected him, and some discussion ensued. After a while, Morris made the call and announced he was going all-in anyways on the flop. But there was still action to follow. The rest of the table folded.
The flop came A♣5♠4♠ and all the chips went in with Morris at risk for his last remaining 625,000.
James Morris: A♦10♠
Anish Vithlani: K♥J♠
Morris had flopped top pair.
The rest of the board was completed with the 3♠ on the turn and the 8♠ on the river for both players to hit a flush but for Vithlani to hit the higher one to bust Morris.
As soon as Morris had walked away from the table, the other players all celebrated and complimented Vithlani, who even fist-bumped the dealer.
Action was followed from when the cards were already on their backs and Muruz Yohannes was all in and at risk. He was against Zachary Hudson who was to his direct left.
Muruz Yohannes: J♦J♣
Zachary Hudson: A♠A♦
Yohannes needed to improve against Hudsons Aces, but he found no luck on the 6♦Q♠10♦5♣8♣ board.
At the same time, one table across, Jason Blodgett was on the button and in a hand heads-up against Pierre Gue who was in the big blind.
The players were already looking at 3♥A♦6♥5♦3♣ and the pot stood at around 6,150,000 with action to play on the river.
Gue moved all in for 5,200,000 and the action went to Blodgett. He tanked for around two minutes before the clock was called. He had 30-seconds to make a decision and eventually made the call.
The dealer called for the cards to be flipped.
Pierre Gue: Jx4x
Jason Blodgett: 7♥7♦
Blodgett took the pot with a pair of sevens and Gue was eliminated.
In the last hand of the previous level, Alexandre Zampieri opened to 1,000,000 from early position. Wesley Cannon then shoved all in for 12,000,000 from the cutoff, and Tom Verbruggen came over the top in the big blind.
Zampieri quickly moved out of the way, creating a heads up showdown.
Wesley Cannon: A♠K♦
Tom Verbruggen: J♠J♥
The board ran out an inconsequential 5♦6♠4♠Q♦8♠. Cannon failed to pair up, being sent to the rail by Verbruggen's jacks.
Lok Chan raised from under the gun, and Sergei Petrushevskii three-bet jammed from the cutoff for 3,700,000. The action folded back to Chan, who made the call with the bigger stack.
Sergei Petrushevskii: A♣J♦
Lok Chan: A♠8♣
The board ran out 10♣Q♣K♣3♦7♥ for Petrushevskii to hold with the flopped Broadway to double up with.
It folded to Mark Tornai in the small blind, who shoved all in. Aaron Fogg only had 1,800,000 remaining in the big blind, and he started thinking out loud.
"Do I even have a choice?" he wondered. After some seconds, he concluded he was left without a choice, and committed his final chips to the middle.
Aaron Fogg: Q♦5♣
Mark Tornai: A♠Q♣
Fogg was left with only two outs after the 3♣6♠Q♠J♠ turn added a flush draw to Tornai's arsenal, and they failed to come in on the J♥ river, eliminating him from the COLOSSUS.
David Pham was all in from a late position and up against Andrew Dennis in the small blind, both with very similar stack sizes. The cards were already on their backs.
Andrew Dennis: A♠K♣
David Pham: A♦A♥
Dennis couldn't crack Pham's Aces as they were dealt a 4♣7♣Q♥9♥2♥ board.
The dealer counted the stacks and Dennis was only "1/4 short" of Pham's stack, eliminating him from the tournament with around 65 players remaining.
Ashira Lavine open-raised to 1,200,000 from middle position. The action folded to Paul Trianosky in the big blind, who shoved all in for 7,450,000. After a while in the tank, Lavine decided to call, covering her opponent by 1,000,000.
Paul Trianosky: A♠K♥
Ashira Lavine: 9♦9♣
Lavine requested the nine of hearts in the window, but she did not need it as the J♦6♠6♣J♣2♣ runout did not help Trianosky, eliminating him from the tournament.
