Has This Unsung Poker Star Been the Top WSOP Performer Since 2015?

Level 28 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Poker Pro
Poker Pro

Only one player has won seven World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets in the past 10 years of live WSOP events, excluding the COVID year (2020). No, it isn't Shaun Deeb, nor is it Jeremy Ausmus or Phil Hellmuth.

This poker pro doesn't get the mainstream attention he probably deserves. While Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, and Phil Ivey get most of the headlines, this individual often flies under the radar. But he's been so dominant at the WSOP for years that the poker world — not just the hardcore crowd — should be made aware of his historic accomplishments.

Anderson Wins a Leveling War Against Vitch

Level 28 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Calvin Anderson
Calvin Anderson

Calvin Anderson opened to 300,000 from the small blind and Christopher Vitch defended from the big blind.

The flop came K1010 and Anderson bet 150,000. Vitch clicked it to 300,000, Anderson raised to 550,000 and Vitch called.

Anderson checked the 5 turn and Vitch put 350,000 into the 1,800,000 pot. Anderson called and both players checked the 6 river.

Anderson showed AAQ3 for aces up which was enough to take the sizable pot.

"Nice hand Calvin" Darryl Fish told his tablemate following the hand.

"Leveling wars" Anderson replied.

"Like an old school online hand. Click battles" Fish added as Anderson scooped the pot.

Tate Chose Not to Flush Chips

Level 28 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

A potentially monster hand developed when three players were in for 300,000 chips before the flop.

After Zachary Zaret and Marco Johnson checked, Ronnie Tate bet 140,000 chips on K6Q. Zaret made the call, Johnson folded.

The turn of 5 hit any flush draws, but Zaret and Tate both checked. The 5 came on the river, pairing the board, but again, both players checked.

Zaret showed A952 to claim the win with an ace-high flush. Tate, who resisted taking a stab at the pot on both the river and turn, flashed a pocket pair of aces.

Andres Korn Eliminated in 8th Place ($25,339)

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Andres Korn
Andres Korn

Andres Korn opened to 225,000 from the hijack and received calls from Bryce Yockey on the button, Calvin Anderson in the small blind and Christopher Vitch in the big blind.

The flop came K107. Anderson checked and Vitch bet 325,000. Korn raised to 1,700,000 which forced folds from Yockey and Anderson. Vitch moved all in, slightly covering Korn who started the hand with roughly 4,400,000. Korn called, putting himself at risk.

Andres Korn: A10104 All in
Christopher Vitch: KK82

Korn winced upon seeing that he was on the wrong side of a set-over-set cooler. with only one out to take the high and backdoors to take the low. A chop was possible on the 6 turn but the Q river was a brick and Korn was sent to the rail in brutal fashion while Vitch took down the biggest pot of the tournament so far by a wide margin.
