Level 9 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Mustapha Kanit opened to 25,000 from under the gun and Philip Sternheimer defended from the big blind. The flop came J76 and both players checked through to the 10 on the turn and the 5 on the river.

Song Hits Miracle Card to Bust Eveslage

Level 9 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Chad Eveslage had just doubled through Stephen Song on the previous hand, but still had just over 100,000 chips. Action folded to Song in this hand, and he moved all in from the small blind. Eveslage instantly called.

Chad Eveslage: AK All in
Stephen Song: 42

The flop of K94 was good news for Eveslage, and the 9 turn was even better. However, the 4 gave Song the victory, and eliminated Eveslage from the event

Mad Dash to the Rail

Level 9 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

With many players entering the field on a fresh stack of just 12 big blinds, a lot of them found themselves all in and at risk within the first orbit. While some were able to double up for now, many others were forced to the rail with $25,000 donated to the prizepool.

Belcher Busts Theologis

Level 9 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Matthew Belcher opened to 21,000 on the button, and faced a shove from a short-stacked Alexandros Theologis. Belcher snap-called, and the hands were flipped up.

Alexandros Theologis: A6 All in
Matthew Belcher: AK

The 523 flop gave Theologis a lot of hope of staying alive, and the 5 turn gave him a chance to chop the pot. The 8 didn't give him the help he needed, and he was out the door.

"How did I lose this?", Theologis said in a joking way, considering how many outs he had to remain in the tournament.

"I would have taken a chop on the turn", Belcher said back.

Ace King no Good for Wasserson

Level 9 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Eric Wasserson raised from early position to 20,000 and was called by Nicholas Maimone from middle position.

The flop came AJ2 and Wasserson bet out for 25,000. Maimone called.

The turn brought the 4, and now Wasserson bet out for 40,000. Maimone moved all-in and he had Wasserson covered. Wasserson snap called:

Eric Wasserson: AxKxAll in
Nicholas Maimone: AJ

Maimone had flopped two pair, and Wasserson needed to hit a king to stay alive. The river bricked out and Wasserson was sent packing.

No Spin Up for Wittmeyer

Level 9 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Eric Bonin raised to 24,000 on the button and Brandon Wittmeyer shipped all in for just over 180,000 in the small blind. Bonin quickly called and the cards were face up.

Brandon Wittmeyer: JJAll in
Eric Bonin: AK

It was a coin flip and the flop of A52 favored Bonin with a pair of aces. The 7 on the turn and the 5 on the river changed nothing, sending Wittmeyer to the rail. Many others have also joined him on the sidelines in the opening few minutes of Day 2.
