Mustafov Leads the Way on Day 2; Peters and Foxen in the Chasing Pack

Action will shortly resume for Day 2 of Event #26: $25,000 High Roller 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em at the 2025 World Series of Poker, kicking off at noon local time in The Horseshoe and Paris Casino, Las Vegas.

Day 1 saw a whopping 300 players enter the event, generating a prize pool of $7,050,000 so far. However, with late registration still available until the end of the first level played on Day 2, the current record number of entries for this event (318 at the 2024 WSOP) appears poised to fall.

Leading the charge into Day 2 is Fahredin Mustafov. Of the 98 players that bagged chips on Day 1, it was Mustafov who finished top of the tree, bagging a huge 1,360,000 stack, good for 136 big blinds when play commences.

Hot on his heels are established professional Cherish Andrews (1,140,000) and two-time bracelet winner David Peters (1,137,000), completing the podium places.

One thing we can be sure of is that somewhere in today's field is a fresh champion. Reigning champion Nick Schulman was eliminated before the end of Day 1, and having used his one allowed reentry, we can be sure of a new champion this year.

For those who did not enter (or reenter) on Day 1, late registration will be available for the first hour of play, until the end of Level 9.

The tournament will resume for Day 2 at noon local time on June 8 and is scheduled for ten 60-minute levels. Play will begin at Level 9 - 5,000/10,000/10,000. Players will take a 15-minute break after every two levels, and there will also be an hour-long dinner break at the end of Level 13 - approximately 6.30 p.m. local time.

As always, stay tuned to PokerNews to get all the latest updates as they happen here at the 2025 World Series of Poker.
