Action will shortly resume for Day 2 of Event #26: $25,000 High Roller 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em at the 2025 World Series of Poker, kicking off at noon local time in The Horseshoe and Paris Casino, Las Vegas.
Day 1 saw a whopping 300 players enter the event, generating a prize pool of $7,050,000 so far. However, with late registration still available until the end of the first level played on Day 2, the current record number of entries for this event (318 at the 2024 WSOP) appears poised to fall.
Leading the charge into Day 2 is Fahredin Mustafov. Of the 98 players that bagged chips on Day 1, it was Mustafov who finished top of the tree, bagging a huge 1,360,000 stack, good for 136 big blinds when play commences.
Hot on his heels are established professional Cherish Andrews (1,140,000) and two-time bracelet winner David Peters (1,137,000), completing the podium places.
| Rank | Player | Country | Chip Count | Big Blinds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Fahredin Mustafov | Bulgaria | 1,360,000 | 136 |
| 2 | Cherish Andrews | United States | 1,140,000 | 114 |
| 3 | David Peters | United States | 1,137,000 | 114 |
| 4 | Joey Weissman | United States | 1,107,000 | 111 |
| 5 | Mitchell Hynam | United Kingdom | 1,001,000 | 100 |
| 6 | Alex Foxen | United States | 958,000 | 96 |
| 7 | Sergey Lebedev | United Kingdom | 945,000 | 95 |
| 8 | Punnat Punsri | Thailand | 850,000 | 85 |
| 9 | Ognyan Dimov | Bulgaria | 807,000 | 81 |
| 10 | Vitalijs Zavorotnijs | Latvia | 792,000 | 79 |
Other notable names in the field include, but are not limited to, Alex Foxen (958,000), Stephen Chidwick (516,000), John Juanda (453,000), Kristen Foxen (441,000), Erik Seidel (315,000) and Jeremy Ausmus (249,000).
One thing we can be sure of is that somewhere in today's field is a fresh champion. Reigning champion Nick Schulman was eliminated before the end of Day 1, and having used his one allowed reentry, we can be sure of a new champion this year.
For those who did not enter (or reenter) on Day 1, late registration will be available for the first hour of play, until the end of Level 9.
The tournament will resume for Day 2 at noon local time on June 8 and is scheduled for ten 60-minute levels. Play will begin at Level 9 - 5,000/10,000/10,000. Players will take a 15-minute break after every two levels, and there will also be an hour-long dinner break at the end of Level 13 - approximately 6.30 p.m. local time.
As always, stay tuned to PokerNews to get all the latest updates as they happen here at the 2025 World Series of Poker.

From the big blind, on a board of 7♦6♣5♠7♠, Fahredin Mustafov led out for a roughly pot-sized bet of 50,000. Alex Foxen called from the cutoff, and they headed to the river.
Mustafov checked the Q♠ river and Foxen happily checked behind. Mustafov announced six, and turned over K♣6♥ for a pair of sixes. Foxen mucked, and Mustafov won an early pot.

Catching the action on a A♠4♠J♣10♦ turn, Christian Roberts checked from the big blind to Gregory Jensen in the hijack. Jensen bet 60,000 into the pot of 90,000, which Roberts called.
Roberts also checked the J♦ river over to Jensen. Jensen slid in a hefty bet of 135,000, which eventually received a fold from his opponent.

Jovan Kenjic made it 20,000 from under the gun and John Juanda defended his big blind.
Both players checked all the way to the river on a board of 7♣2♣9♥Q♥8♠, before Juanda bet 45,000. Kenjic called to see Juanda turn over K♦5♥ for king-high. Kenjic showed A♦8♦ for a rivered pair of eights to win the pot.

In a pot of a little over 200,000 chips, Joe McKeehen fired a bet of 120,000 from the small blind on the 5♥A♦7♠3♥ turn. He was then put all-in for 322,000 by Albert Daher in the cutoff, and snap-called.
Joe McKeehen: A♣Q♦
Albert Daher: 7♣5♣
Daher's two pair had a big lead over the top pair of McKeehen, but the 2015 Main Event champion improved on the Q♣ river to double up.
