With three players seeing a board of 5♠K♣6♦8♥7♦ and over 800,000 in the middle, Justin Liberto checked from the big blind and David Petty shoved for his remaining 55,000 chips from middle position. Peter Ferderber called from the hijack, Michael Fleming shoved for 186,000 from the cutoff and Liberto folded. Ferderber called for less and was at risk.
David Petty: A♦8♦6♥5♦2♣
Peter Ferderber: A♣Q♠J♥9♣2♦
Michael Fleming: A♥Q♦6♣3♠2♠
For the main pot, Petty was good for the high with two pair and took half. All three players had the nut-low and took one sixth of the main pot each. For the considerably smaller side pot, Ferderber and Fleming chopped half with the nut-low while Fleming had a pair of sixes to take the side.
Ian Steinman raised to 20,000 in middle position and Hasan Kural called in late position. On the button, Joao Vieira three-bet to 92,000 which saw action fold back to Steinman who moved all in. Kural folded and Vieira called to put himself at risk for 145,000.
Joao Vieira: A♠K♣J♦6♣3♠
Ian Steinman: A♥Q♠4♣3♥2♠
The board ran out 6♠8♦10♥6♥10♣ and the three sixes with an ace was good for Vieira to take a sizable pot off of Steinman.
A little while later, Steinman was eliminated from the tournament.
Igor Zektser limped in early position before Michael Christ raised to 20,000. Shiva Dudani called on the button, Kevin Dwyer called from the small blind and Jon Kyte called from the big blind.
Five ways to a flop of 4♥10♦3♥, Kyte took the initiative and bet the pot for 112,000. Zektser folded and Christ called. Dudani folded and Dwyer called.
The turn brought the 7♣ and both the blinds checked to Christ, who went all in 177,000 and was called by both his opponents.
Jon Kyte: A♠Q♥J♣J♦5♥
Michael Christ: A♥K♥4♦3♠2♥
Kevin Dwyer: A♣8♥7♠6♥6♠
When the river brought the Q♦ Christ joked, "How did I scoop it?! That must have been a misdeal.".
His two pair and nut low had faded all his opponents outs for the high and has put him well in contention to make a run at winning this event back to back years. Kyte was sent to the rail.
Andrew Brown raised to 15,000 from late position and three players call including David Schwind in the cutoff.
The flop rolls out K♠10♦7♥ and action checked around to Brown who said "let's see who wants to go broke here," before potting it. Schwind moved all in for 192,000 which only Brown called.
David Schwind: K♣Q♣J♥9♥8♥
Andrew Brown: A♥A♣Q♥J♠2♠
Schwind improved to the staright on the 6♣ turn and nothing changed on the 6♥ river, to leave Schwind to double at the expense of Brown.
Ofir Mor opened from under the gun, Darryll Fish three-bet shoved for around 50,000 from his direct left and Mor called with a covering stack to put him at risk.
Darryll Fish: A♠8♥8♣7♣2♥
Ofir Mor: A♦Q♠7♠4♣2♣
The board ran out K♥A♥5♥5♣4♥. Both players had the same low with seven-deuce but Fish had a flush for the high to take three quarters of the pot.
James Chen raised to 12,000 in middle position which saw Ryan Hoenig call in the hijack, with both Pedro Neves in the small blind and Steve Federspiel in the big blind call.
The flop rolled out 8♥9♥2♦ and Neves checked to Federspiel who moved all in for 50,000 which saw Chen raise to 100,000. Hoenig moved all in for 213,000 and Neves folded while Chen called.
Steve Federspiel: K♠J♣9♦8♦4♠
Ryan Hoenig: A♠Q♣10♥8♠3♥
James Chen: J♦8♣5♦4♥2♣
Hoenig improved to a flush and nut low on the 5♥ turn and held up on the K♦ river to soar up the counts, while the midwestern poker grinder was eliminated from the tournament.
