Espinoza Eliminated; Tavares Deprived of a Double

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Paul Espinoza went all in for his last 65,000 preflop. Stephen Hubbard called in the small and Bernardo Tavares called in the big.

Heads up to a dry side pot, the board scrolled across AA4 and Hubbard bet enough to put Tavares all in. Tavares made the call.

Paul Espinoza: KJJ103 All in
Bernardo Tavares: A9854 All in
Stephen Hubbard: Q7532

Tavares had flopped top boat and was calling for a high card before the 7 peeled, giving Hubbard the nut low. Espinoza had no outs as the 2 fell.

Mason Falls to Blom

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Robert Mason opened to 85,000 from the button and Viktor Blom defended from the big blind.

Both players checked the 642 flop leading to the K turn. Blom bet 140,000, Mason shoved for around 200,000 and Blom called with a covering stack to put him at risk.

Robert Mason: AKK87 All in
Viktor Blom: 96532

Mason had turned top set but was in bad shape against Blom's flopped straight. The board did not pair on the 10 river and Mason was eliminated while Blom took the pot.

One Card Too Many; A Hand is Dead

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

The Hand Before Break:

Joao Vieira raised and Leandro Pimentel pushed forward his short stack all in, committing himself. The blinds folded and when it came back to Vieira he declared a call but it was quickly evident when Pimentel turned his hand over that he had one too many cards with the AKJ852.

Vieira showed AK732 but before anything else could be done, the floor would be called. Action was held and the first floor called another floor over to clarify the ruling on this unique situation.

In the end, the floor ruled that Pimentel would sacrifice one big blind to the pot and his hand was declared dead. According to floor, the ruling would have been different if it hadn't been a raise for his tournament life with no action behind. If he had a bigger stack, it's most likely the ruling would have had him forfeit the entirety of his raise.

The table agreed that this was the best way to deal with an honest mistake and there were no complaints from any of the players at the table.
