Zaki Shows Early, Ivey Lets It Go

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

The hand began with Justin Zaki raising to 10,000 from the cutoff, and Phil Ivey made the call from the big blind to go heads-up to the flop.

The dealer spread KJJ, and Ivey led out with a bet of 8,000. Zaki called.

The turn brought the 3, and Ivey fired another 8,000. Zaki didn’t hesitate to call once more.

On the 10 river, with only two 5,000 chips left behind, Ivey moved his remaining stack into clear view at the dealer’s request. Mistaking the motion for an all-in, Zaki tossed in 10,000 and tabled his hand K7 for a runner-runner flush.

Since action was still on Ivey, the dealer called for the floor. After reviewing the situation, the floor ruled that there was no binding action and Ivey still had a decision to make, now fully aware of Zaki’s hand.

Ivey, holding J9 for trip jacks, opted to fold.

Pak Wins with Stronger Two Pair

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Calvin Anderson opened the action with a raise to 8,000, but Edward Pak ramped up the pressure with a three-bet to 25,000. Anderson gave it some thought before making the call.

The flop came 6J5, and Anderson checked it over to Pak, who followed up with a bet of 20,000. Anderson took a moment, then called.

The 10 landed on the turn and both players checked.

When the J hit the river, Anderson took the initiative with a bet of 33,000. Pak wasted no time calling.

Anderson showed 99 for two pair of jacks and nines, but Pak turned over Q10, good for jacks and tens to take the pot.
