Action was picked up on the turn, with a board reading Q♠A♦8♣2♣. The pot was heads up, contested between Champie Douglas and Thomas Brownscombe.

Brownscombe had checked to Douglas, who bet 40,000 into 83,000. Brownscombe pondered before making the call, bringing in the 3♠ river. Yet again Brownscombe checked, and this time Douglas sized to 60,000, before being check-shoved on. Douglas asked for a count, which amounted to 411,000, meaning if Douglas called and was wrong, he would only have 5 big blinds to his name.

A long tank ensued, as Douglas milled over his options for over four whole minutes. In the end, he folded A♥3♥ face up, announcing "pocket eights in the house." "Show me an eight!" he added. Brownscombe refused and returned his cards face down.
